Who picked the ball up off the touch line and scored? Amazing goal
- Canada Cup

Fonzy.

They'll be playing that highlight in Europe tonight ....beauty. All the kids showed up and made a mark ...us old school MNT soccer fans are not used to this.

Great atmosphere ...only issue was the local pubs couldn't handle the pre-gamers. No where to get a beer!! Thousands of red-clad fans walking aimlessly in search of a pint. Time to consider opening up restaurants to capacity.

If this is a new rule put in, I like it.

Dumbass ref blew the play dead for no reason in the Anaheim game and the Ducks scored. They reviewed it and they counted the goal.

Ref (frank)ed up but they corrected it and it didn't cost them.

Wedgie’s Super Professional Scouting Report:

1. Campbell was the first, second and third star. Without him being awesome in the first ten minutes, this game is lost.

2. They have changed the souvenir cups. They are slightly taller and thinner.

I have never seen this many tickets available for any game - and that includes the tank year before we drafted Matthews.

I really wonder if this is a turning point.

When you could stay home and buy a new 70" TV for the same price as a decent set of tickets, do you really want to go to the game?

Probably a loss if we still had Andersen.

Agree with number 1 and number 2 is moving the opposite way of my body

Hope the game was good live

Btw, you’ll see a post at 7:27pm in the prediction thread. To be fair that poster must have been doing it at the same moment I locked it so it didn’t go through and it was before puck drop when I found it completed. So I copied it and sent it back to the poster, unlocked the thread, let it get posted, then relocked it. Just in case you’re wondering why I let it happen that late.

Agreed.

Kerfoot to the third line as a winger and Engvall takes over the 4th line C role.

I wonder if Engvall will still get PP time, he produced so he should.

- Dozzer

i hope you are wrong... Engvall has been generally very good as a winger and really pathetic as a center - plus he's not great in the faceoff circle.

I thought all of Ritchie, Bunting and Kampf looked decent/good - Kashe seemed to fade or become disinterested as the game went along.

That save Campbell made on the PK on the deflection off the skate is exactly the goal that beat Freddie every time and we all forgave him because, "What are you gonna do about that?"

Campbell will have his share of bad goals against, but tonight he was great.

Honestly if everyone is healthy I see Kase at the 13th forward level.

And I’m ok with Engvall at center when he’s on a line with Spezza who does the draws

The fourth line got caved in badly tonight - Spezza, Simmonds and Amadio spent the entire night in their own end and generated nothing consequential.

I saw Kase similarly - effective and noticeable for the first half and less so in the second half. He was still decent. I was certainly happy with the guys getting in front of the net, screening, taking and giving abuse, and standing up for Campbell. There were good moments in that game.

Engvall made a mistake but also scored so he won’t be sat

And I do think Matthews gets moved sometime before July 1st 2023 if they don’t become truly competitive

- Dozzer

this is why dubass needs to trade greedy little female dog for some grown men while he still has valu🤦‍♂️

anderson and poon jenner come to mind👍🏿

i think time has shown that this team can’t survive the playoffs on skillz alone🤦‍♂️

people may be jizzing their shorts over a home opener win against the habs but i saw a lot of the same lack of physicality as last year🤦🏿‍♂️

When it comes to physical play I am sincerely interested how Ritchie is going to play when Matthews is back….. I got this feeling he’s deliberately holding back… have no idea why… but I do

Oh shut the hell up and admit when a player does something well, even if you don’t like him
- Dozzer

For sure. I hate Holl more than probably everyone else on these boards, and even I can admit he made a great block on that play.

Tons of other things in that game that Holl could rightly be called out for, but that straight up saved a goal.

Engvall did what he did because he felt too worried to be the cause of a loss and made a bad choice. Coaching will have a chat with him and he’ll get more chances to play the game’s end. I think he just simply needs a tad more experience to truly play it relaxed.

The only thing that worries me about Campbell is his health. I hope they’re able to rest him enough.

Is it just me or did he play like he cares a little more this time around? That goal where he tried to block both a shot and a pass didn’t look great (block the pass and let your goalie handle the shot, don’t try to do both) but Muzzin was the guy who (frank)ed up to start the 2 on 1 as well.

Otherwise he had a pretty decent game (Holl), what I expect anyways

Personally, I thought Holl was pretty bad most of the game, but played very well killing the penalties at the end of the game.

One of the main reasons I don't like Holl paired with Muzzin is because not only does Muzzin carry him, but they're both our slowest D and one seems to get caught too much.

But I agree with you that he looked to care more. His demeanor or something.
