He'll score 100 if the Caps just play the NYR 81 more times.

The shorthanded goal was hilarious.

8 x 6.15 for Pulock.

The Rielly camp is taking some hits lately.

*Ovechkin will be lucky to score 30 goals*

Easy to type after a 2 goal game.

McDavid is on pace for 164 points too.

I know it's boring, but he's still going to be fighting Matthews for the Rocket until he's dead and buried.

If anybody could get 164 points, it's McDavid

If it were anyone other then Dubas negotiating the contract id be optimistic, but contracts are his weakest skill it appears.

that was all Campbell
- 21peter

I don't know about ALL Campbell, but he was definitely the difference.

Nylander played pretty well also. Actually Engvall did too. Aside from his goal, he had a few chances and chased down a few pucks.

Other than that boneheaded icing at the end I guess.

The more other players get new contracts, the more I think Dubas did fine. There are some pretty crappy contracts out there.. I would rather have Willie at 6.9, then Suzuki at 7.8

Same age and I agree I'd probably lean towards Pulock's better 2-way game over Rielly's better offensive numbers.

Great deal for the Isles. What a world where Nurse gets 9.25 and Pulock gets 6.25. I gotta give Lou some credit on that one.

Engvall did what he did because he felt too worried to be the cause of a loss and made a bad choice. Coaching will have a chat with him and he’ll get more chances to play the game’s end. I think he just simply needs a tad more experience to truly play it relaxed.
- Dozzer

I suspect you're probably right. He saw the clock ticking down and thought "just get it the hell out, rip it at the net".

Coaching staff have to slightly curb that into "cross centre ice and just get it the hell out, rip it at the net".

For perhaps a Marner or Nylander, you can carry it in, dipsy doodle, elude the other team, and burn time. But Engvall doesn't have their talent.

And Zach Hyman scores

From McDavid

Dammit

So ends my hope to make fun of him lol

- Dozzer

Hyman may score 30 this year. He's a hard worker, and if he gets enough time with McDavid, all he really has to do is bust his butt to get to the front of the net, and the puck will end up on his stick, in the slot, almost every time.

It's the Dave Andreychuk special. Score piles of goals when the puck makes contact with your stick for a fraction of a section on the entire shift.

He made some good passes and was ok without the puck.

I have no doubt that this first year he will do well and 2nd year will be decent so the media can dump on the leafs and their fun etc.
But im not so optimistic about years 3 - end of contract.

He was left wide open on the PP for that tap-in. He's going to get a lot of those looks with the PK'ers focusing on 97 and 29.

Marner was noticeably just floating around out there. If that is his effort when injured. Just don't play. The work rate was so far under the rest of the team.

Ondrej Kase proved why I have liked him since he entered the league. I have been his supporter for a long time. What did he get last night 13 shots? His hustle was there and he mucked and grinded. Leafs hasn't had a player like that in awhile.

The battle to the front of the net 5on5 is such a breath of fresh air.

The Power Play still infuriates me. NO More passing it back on the break out please. MTL was all over those passes in the Leafs zone and Leafs side of neutral zone. Other teams will hit them harder.

At the time Nylander was an overpay, that was years ago its OK now, but the term is what I think makes it bad for most of his contracts.

Matthews AAV is fine, but not for a low term of 5 years that walks him to FA, Marners is a flat out overpay by about 1.5M especially with a 6 year term.

He played to a 3 mill per year level last night, JMO. The lazy penalty during the penalty kill was really crap. He knew it too.

Again, just my opinion.
