MLSE is likely losing it - I got an email at 11am saying tickets still available and went online and was shocked at how many good seats were available still, in pairs none the less.
Crazy!
See for yourselves and they aren't just the standing room or on the glass for $1000 seats either.

Toronto will have the 48th Highlanders Pipes and Drums come out and play the unofficial anthem of Canada on the ice, as they have since 1931.
Having been there to see it 8-10 times I have to say it's awesome and i will miss it this year but I'd rather watch it on TV sans mask, without lining up to use the washroom and drinking much cheaper beer!

I think this will be the first Leafs home opener I've ever missed at the ACC since its inception. Frankly, I'm not too broken up about it.
I imagine it's going to be an absolute poopshow at the gates just to get in as people fiddle with their devices to dig up not only vaccine receipts but their tickets. It's already extra annoying that security has to do their usual anti-terrorism baggage/empty-your-pockets-of-every-(frank)ing-piece-of-detritus-you-have checks that any additional protocols put in place might literally put me into a soul-sucking coma waiting to get in.
Opening night can pass this year. Hoping they work the kinks out quickly because I do miss watching the game live for the 1st period and then the rest of the game in the Draught Deck (or whatever the hell it's called) drinking expensive beer.
And yes, I do realize how privileged and first world problem-ish that all sounded.

I plan on being at the doors at 6 pm.
I'm assuming the 48th Highlanders will hit the ice around 6:30 pm.
I and 15 others will brave the Sens season opener tomorrow - AdamFrench
That sounds like a great time; drive for half an hour to put your feet up on the empty seats in front of you and have 1 beer while maybe hockey is going on

All season last year we played Canadian teams - which Im glad the NHL was able to play.
All preseason this year - Habs and Sens
First three games of the season, Habs and sens. I truly hope after this week we dont see either the sens or habs until at least January.

Little tid bits I read on an email from MLSE last week (just in case you missed it) Scotiabank arena is 100% cashless - debit or credit card only.
Also masks required but they have specified a 3 ply mask - neck gaiters NOT permitted.
I found the 2nd one to be interesting, my workplace is this way but almost everywhere else is not. Perhaps a restriction that the gov't put on them to allow 100% capacity but I'm sure there will be a bunch of people who show up with just a neck gaiter. I sure hope MLSE will have a big supply of masks to provide to those folks or the line up to get in will be incredibly delayed.

Went to the big O to watch monster trucks (ie. watch people who like to watch monster trucks) probably about 5 years ago and I poop you not, nobody accepted cards, only 2 atms in the entire place.

I though it was the 51st.
Thanks for putting me on the correct path. - dmnted
My wife's great uncle (who we had Thanksgiving dinner with and continues to be an amazingly entertaining man even at a young 92 years old) was a Major with the 48th Highlanders so hard for me to forget! :-)

Getting into Rogers Centre was no problem at all. I liked that they had a pod section that was kept a bit restricted. That might still be an issue for some people
