I think Willy has found a good balance of not caring and caring

He had that "floater" rep for a while out there because of his nonchalent skating and persona...That type of attitude is good to have in this market.

He pulled himself out of the fan dog house and is now a fan favourite...hope Marner takes some lessons.

I think you're feeling a bit attacked here, and that's not what's intended . . . but when his deal ends, Tavares will be 35 years old. He shouldn't be commanding significant contract dollars at that point. If he wants something like a 3 year x $6m Marleau deal, then he may need to look outside of his home area. If he wants to stay, then go on a year-by-year Spezza style deal (maybe a bit more than league minimum) - but the deal would need to be team-friendly at that point if this is his preferred area. He'll have earned about $130 million in his career at that point. He can afford to earn less if he wants to.
