Reasonable take. It has perspective and lacks the black or white thinking of some of the simpletons who post in here.

NoPa has played 2 games so far, 0 points, but is playing 15 minutes a night which means he is getting his opportunity. I'm going to continue to follow this to see what he does with it.

did you watch the 2nd game at all? just curious how he looked. i didn't notice him the first game really. but he did have a nice chance, i think in the first, grubauer made a pretty decent save.

I agree that it is a reasonable assessment. I don’t. Yet think all of his picks have reached their full potential. I think a bit more will come out of tk and provy. Maybe Oskar too. Perhaps a lot more from hart and farabee. I think the last two can be stars.

I have watched only parts of some Vegas games, and didn't notice Patrick, but to be fair I didn't watch the majority of either game.

A couple of quotes from his conclusion that resonated with me:

With all the risks he took early, he seems to target almost exclusively two-way, 200-foot players in the later rounds that had very little upside as a diamond in the rough.

but the lack of elite players to come out of five years and 42 picks is a bit alarming. It’s a prime example of quantity versus quality.

I have been posting this fact for quite some time now, this is the main reason Hextall never found any stars in the later rounds, it was all due to this approach. Maybe Lindblom develops into one which would be nice, but in 5 drafts you need more.

The star power is undoubtedly lacking, which is about 50/50 his fault and just horrible luck.

I think this goes back to Hextall trying to be too cute, and also trying to be the smartest guy in the room. The best odds of finding a star player is still in your 1st round picks, and Hextall whiffed on several of them which really sets a franchise back.

Agreed, it’s great that he was able to get nhl level talent, some very good, but really disappointing we didn’t come away with a true game changer. Especially when you got a gift to pick at #2. If Carter Hart turns into a top 10 goalie that changes things on his tenure IMO

Certainly debatable if the org should not have done a full tear down and get multiple lottery picks with a view to getting an eichel or mcdavid. Even then there are no guarantees though.

Missing on Patrick was about as bad luck as a team can get. It was probably that one time where Hexy wasn't trying to be cute and went with the consensus "sure thing".....

Almost ironic.

If they miss playoffs this year, I’m all
For a scorched earth process. Almost impossible with some of the older guys locked up like Hayes Coots and Ellis but we will need to do something

Yeah. That one hurt. Probably the most imo. Imagine us with Kane? But it was one bad year that we had and they certainly didn’t do a tear down.

If they miss or squeak in and get creamed 1st round, it has to be a discussion. I don’t feel the org will though. This group prob has 2 years to get it together. I could see av canned though.

Yup, if thats what happens, its the coaching staff that will be gone. Gotta see what G wants to get paid, and if there's a UFA that might be better for the same money.

Captain comfortable out. Johnny hockey in. Not sayin that is the route I go but can see it happening.

I hope not. I think Chuck knows now what we need, and not sure Johnny fits the bill. Its a big year for him this year.

I could see AV gone if we are in trouble come January. Another one and done would also result in his dismissal in my opinion.

Wasn’t that the debate though. Patrick for the scouts wasn’t the consensus pick.

Talking about two different things IMO.

In the national media it was pretty clear he was the consensus top two.

Among the Flyers staff maybe not, but in this case it seems Hexy went against the in house staff and stuck to the national consensus.

The concerning thing to me is that his biggest strengths coming out of junior were that he was mentally unflappable and technically impeccable. Both of things just vaporized last season so quickly. Kinda scary.
- Tomahawk

Again, I have to disagree a little. Last year was so screwed up with the situation so outside of the norm. I doubt when assessing his mental strength they were considering all that happened from a pandemic as a scenario.

How could he go against the in house staff if there was no consensus?
