BINGO in 1… 2… 3…

Hi.

Tough one. Svech was on a mission tonight. One team looked ready. The other didn't seem to have the puck long enough to really establish any momentum. Isles never really got to their game. I don't expect the next round to look similar.

They'll bounce back. Hopefully this is a wake up call.

Tough first game but they should be fine.

They'll be fine. They are facing a tough opening road schedule. That means they will be playing at home down the stretch.

Will be nice to have more home games down the stretch. I think this year they should haver more depth on D if needed as the season goes on.

Isles will be fine, last season it was 4 & 6 in the 1st 10 games, with a 5 game loss streak.

Yeah he does

Chara is slow as molasses.

Knew that was coming.

brutally slow.. signing him was a big mistake..IMO. Can't have him AND green in the lineup. one or the other...

Leo got hard seeing Wahlstrom take an o-zone penalty and the ensuing PPG
- eichiefs9

I would give Wahlstrom a seat in press box for Bellows and have Ross the Boss sitting next to him for Leo. (I would also have Chara or Green with them.. u can have one of those guys.. not both in the line-up).

I would not be so quick with Wally. Let's be a little patient with young players. It will be interesting to see if Chara and Greene last the entire year being in the lineup together. I'm not sure a team has ever been to a Cup with players like Chara and Greene on defense playing at the same time?

Greene, Chara, and Parise were a step or two behind last night. First game but I’ll go back to what I’ve said since we signed these players. They need to be used in spots and played to their strengths. All three are long in the tooth and the expectations can’t be they’ll be in every, single, game and playing big mins this season imo. With this said I’m not going to pass judgement after a couple of preseason and one reg season game it’s a work in progress. I will say Parise looks absolutely lost and slow anytime I’ve seen him so far. Much more then I expected. His speed looks like it’s been cut in half.

Meh. I don’t think it was a mistake he just has to be used in a bottom six role not a top 4. The problem is trotz likes to roll a fairly even blue line mins wise (when he can he’s obviously limited players mins aka Dobson in the playoffs). I don’t think he has that option this season imo.

I agree Cpt. I'm not ready to toss Chara, Greene, and Parise away but it cannot be play the vets no matter what any longer. Aho need to be given a look and Salo as well. Salo is not an 18 year old kid and has experience playing in the Swedish Elite league. I get nervous about sitting Wally. He need to stay in the lineup and the last thing we need is to open the door for Leo.

They got beat to every loose puck and lost almost every 50/50 battle. On top of that, they looked slow. So, yeah, add all that up and it's a definitive loss.

Can't read much into it since it's the first game against a team that always seems to have their number, but they owe it to themselves to come out flying on Saturday. If they drop two straight while looking just as flat next game, that might start getting into their heads, and it's a loooong road trip...

Good news is the first line looked good on offense...all three did exactly what you expect them to do.

Lousy timing with the draft and the Isles had to move Leddy and re-sign Greene. This year will be Lou and Barry's greatest challenge since being with the Isles.

I have no worry about the 1st line. Palms is an upgrade over Eberle with his skill and toughness. Hopefully the 2nd and 3rd lines show consistency. Beau need to make a big step up this year and hopefully Wally is productive.

Well, unfortunately I have to agree. I was one of the first to jump on the Chara train. What I saw in preseason and last night, he was definitely slow and out of position at times. Although I did say about 15-17 minutes a night with quite a few nights off to keep him (and Greene) fresh for the playoffs. Hopefully it's just getting used to the Trotz system and his play improves.

Chara being partner with Dobson is a great thing but Isles have to watch his minutes and games.

I know it was only the first game but the PP looked brutal. You can't go without even registering a shot. Carolina looked really good on the PK and seemed like they threw the Isles off of their plan. They just didn't make any adjustment.

Isles cannot constantly try to skate past the defense on the PP.

I absolutely agree. But Chara looked like a liability most times. He looked slow and didn't seem to utilize angles to help himself. Hopefully just a 1 game hiccup as he gets more comfortable with the system and builds chemistry with new teammates.

You have to dump it in once in a while but you have to at least gain the red line. They had a hard time even doing that.

McAvoy extended at $9.5M per, which is $1.25M less than Pelech and Pulock combined next year

Yeah you're going to have to dump and chase a little bit against them. The D are pretty mobile but really struggle in tight to the net. You could see it that when the Isles got to the paint with the puck the Canes were basically useless. That's what you gotta do.
