Yeah you're going to have to dump and chase a little bit against them. The D are pretty mobile but really struggle in tight to the net. You could see it that when the Isles got to the paint with the puck the Canes were basically useless. That's what you gotta do. - BINGO!
Isles have changed many PP coaches and not much has changed. PP was better though during last years run. |

McAvoy extended at $9.5M per, which is $1.25M less than Pelech and Pulock combined next year - eichiefs9
9.5?
I'll never understand many of these hockey contracts. |

The 'Canes PK was pretty freaking aggressive last night. Overall their entire game plan kept the Isles off balance most of the night. Good win for you, Bingo. |

I absolutely agree. But Chara looked like a liability most times. He looked slow and didn't seem to utilize angles to help himself. Hopefully just a 1 game hiccup as he gets more comfortable with the system and builds chemistry with new teammates. - Isleshockeyman
Hopefully it is about getting more comfortable in the system. Chara and Parise are great stories but Isles need to make adjustments as needed. |

Nor will I. I get that McAvoy is a pretty good D-man, but not $9.5m per good. That's just nuts. |

You have to dump it in once in a while but you have to at least gain the red line. They had a hard time even doing that. - Isleshockeyman
Would be interested to see what Aho can do on the PP? |

I think 9.5 and you better put up monster numbers. |

Agreed. Stories don't win championships. You have to go with the best lineup and do what's in the best interest of the club, not the player. |

If they can't break the PK pressure and get the PP set up and moving, then it doesn't really matter who is running it. I get your point though and I'm sure he'll get his shots. He can move the puck pretty well.
I'd like to see Pulock on one PP line and Chara on the other. With someone with net front presence, that might get some goals going. Not that I'd like to stand in front of either one of those guys shots. |

Career numbers as a base line and then better improve from that. |

Fox is going to ram it right up the Rangers asses this offseason. If Darnell Nurse/Seth Jones/McAvoy/Werenski are $9M+ defenseman than Fox is easily over $10M |

Well, unfortunately I have to agree. I was one of the firs to jump on the Chara train. What I saw in preseason and last night, he was definitely slow and out of position at times. Although I did say about 15-17 minutes a night with quite a few nights off to keep him (and Greene) fresh for the playoffs. Hopefully it's just getting used to the Trotz system and his play improves. - Isleshockeyman
Im not negative on Chara at all but I think 15-17 mins a night is a lofty expectation. I knew that before we signed him. He was skating in cement with Washington last year that’s why I was pretty shocked to see some of the posters expectations on here. Unrealistic. |

All about aggression. Brind'amour's thing he keeps stressing is that he's fine with guys making mistakes so long as it's as a result of trying to be aggressive. If you're just out of position because you aren't moving your feet, that's a problem, but if you get burned going hard after the puck, well, that's forgivable.

Very happy for Charlie and his Dad. I know the family well... couldn't happen to a nicer kid. Now I hope he stinks.

Their PK was one of the best in the league the last few years. They fly around the ice and make it very tough to get set up... text book how to do a PK.

While I was happy that Bailey was taken off the top PP unit I am NEVER a fan of going with 4 forwards. They always seem to struggle keeping the puck in the zone and moving it quickly from the point. We have a ton of really good D-men his HUGE shots.. silly to me to have Beau at the point. |

I'll be the first to admit I was pretty high on him. We'll see how it goes. After all, it was the first game of the season. I'm not necessarily negative on him. I guess I just had, as you said, higher expectations. |

I'm actually ok with it if it's working. Which some teams do. The Isles on the other hand can't seem to do it with 4 forwards though. If memory serves, they're usually middle of the pack on the PP. That's just not going to get it done come playoff time. |

We always try to be the Hoosiers of hockey on the PP. when they just throw it at the net with a crowd in front to jam or tip it in they have success... instead we do this 5 or 6 passes accross the middle looking for that wide open guy. It really drives me nuts watching it... 3 low percentage passes through 3 sticks and wonder why it's not working.
