Analytics from tonight show that Subban had a solid game. Just looks bad that he got beat on a play but otherwise played well. Not saying he shouldn't be free from criticism but let's be fair at least.

Defensive breakdowns were there 5v5 but we should really be concerned about special teams. Is the penalty going to get better this year because it looks the same as last year.

People here are always going to pick on PK. He'll be on the third pair this year and will be fine. Anyone who watched that game and knows anything about hockey knows that third pairing last night belongs in the AHL.

Over/under Zacha managing 50pts? 20g, 30a? We've been holding our breath on him every year. He had a "breakout year" last season when he went to LW.. managing 17g 18a, -11, in 50 games.
He looks good so far, but then again, 20g/30a would be a massive achievement for him.

No complaints. All is roses on opening week.

Both Severson and Smith are at practice today, no longer in non-contact jerseys.

Still no Blackwood or Wood.

We are not going to miss Subban AT ALL. I’d wager we’re better with White or Jaros than Subban.

You would be correct. The guys on this blog who seem to give him unwaivering support will see his real worth when he signs a 900k deal this offseason. Happy that management and ownership took a chance on him, albeit a letdown. Jaros would probably be more beneficial at this time, as he really is a great shot blocker and plays a clean and simple game.

Now for Dougie! What a start, Not used to seeing a 6'6" defenseman go out and open up scoring, rounding off the night with a +3 too boot. Not what we are used too, but hopefully he keeps it up. Mercer, Hughers, Bratt, and Kuokk all looking excellent up front as well! Curious to see how this group handles their next challenge against the Kraken. That D-core is no slouch.

Stillman is off to a solid start in Sudbury. Utica is looking like a threat this year as well with Holtz dominating in his first game, and Walsh rattling off 3 assists in his first game. Daws with a strong performance as well. Happy to see Shak back in the KHL again, as his injury was significant. His role is quickly growing and I won't be surprised if he is a top pairing by mid-season. Great start for the young guns and new additions this year. Vats for Kuokk and Daws is looking like a very underrated win for Fitz.
