they were already thin at center, losing 2 was not a good idea.
I'll give it to you for DD. still he was able to make Pacioretty produce at a very high level. something Evans could never do imo, to follow up on earlier posts. - fidopro
Yeah, I mean I didnt think they were awful at center, defintiely clearly worse than last year, but in general most of the team seems pretty uninspired. On paper we should be better than we're looking, but the results so far couldn't be much worse. Still early in the season yet to bring up the t word, but I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing if we tank. The team was always going to be battling for a wild card spot at best anyway. |

jesus christ on a bike guys, 3 games into the season and it's already over? I mean, what we've seen so far definitely hasn't been pretty, but Ducharme does have a few players with offensive abilities at his disposal to turn things around, it's not like Drouin and Wideman are the only ones that are gonna score goals this season lol... besides, this could very well simply be the reversal of this trend we've seen with the habs in recent years, where they have a really hot start to the season, until the wheels eventually fall off the wagon. so right now would be the slow start during which they're getting their poop together, and ultimately they'll find their winning ways again as a team. |

that is very curious indeed, worst-case scenario they could've used him in Laval, maybe there's something that happened that wasn't made public that pushed them to place him on waivers again without even giving him a try.

I dunno, how bad do you have to be at practice to get rejected so hastily? since they claimed him off waivers they most likely did a bit of research prior to that and knew what kind of player they were getting. also, all of the comments I've heard from laff fans about him were positive, and the general consensus is that he didn't make the team basically because the roster is already clogged up with quality players at the center position. safe to say MTL's situation is quite the opposite, so you'd think they'd at least give the guy a chance in a real game situation and see how he does. anyway I don't really get it lol

very true, so I guess it would be consistent with their illogical decision-making.

yeah, fans complain all the time about Bergevin's work but to be honest I find his track record in terms of trading and identifying guys that could fill a need on the team isn't bad at all. I think we're simply at the point where we'd be due for a bit of real "star power" up front, and not only between the pipes...
