We already talked about this, but the Arizona component is unnecessary.
They should be trading for the ghost of Andrew Shaw tomorrow, as it would only cost the Sabres future considerations, which is code for not a damn thing.
I think they could get the 2022 Vegas 3rd round pick that Chicago has for taking Shaw's salary off their books. Even better about Shaw is while his cap hit is $3.9M, he's only owed $2.9M this season. Better still, $1M of that was a signing bonus that was already paid by Chicago, so the Sabres would only be on the hook for $1.9M for his $3.9M cap hit. - kingcong39

It's also been reported that his contract is insured. The real cost may be close to 0.
Rather than bury Connolly in the minors, might as well try and perform a renaissance with him as well and then trade him at the deadline while retaining 50%.
Me neither. I'm not great at the nuances of LTIR. I was just curious if they're using his LTIR'd money to "pay for" a cap overage - Hank Balling
I'm no expert on the Hawks, but a quick look makes it seem pretty straight forward here. The could move Shaw out with no real implications. Using LTIR lowered their cap by about 200k, that sticks for the season.

That's what you see below regarding what is being said above, if you're not sure what to look for:
Cong is right on this. It's a really strange situation. Usually they'd have to pay off someone to take his hit. In this case, they'd be helping us as much as we're helping them. Guess it looks better if we get a late pick, but I wouldn't say a word if they just did it for nothing.
Im not one for overreacting to a tiny sample size.... but I have noticed outside of Buffalo media (Harrington, Lance, etc) people are pretty much universally still laughing at the Sabres. I was listening to TSN radio Montreal enjoying their meltdown (Habs and AZ by far worst 2 teams of year so far) they were consistently saying that Buffalo was the "worst team in the league". Even Mike Augello mocked the Sabres this morning on OTP Radio saying Buffalo was "planning the parade". I think it is unfortunate that so many years of being a laughingstock has made people so biased and blind to the fact that this is a totally different team under Granato. Who knows if they're evenm good enough to go .500, but Tbhey have not played like a bottom dwelling team. I am not gonna show my papers to be able to watch hockey, ut if not for the mandate i'd be at some games, theyve shown enough to deserve that.

Totally different how? Totally different like the 10 game win streak under Housley? Or the 10 game win streak under Krueger?

Let em talk. Let em underestimate us. I like that.
It amazes me that some people complain as much when we win as when we lose. - Powerslave
No, you're totally right, they've never started hot and then poop the bed, my mistake. Let's circle back in January, and if they're still good, then great.
