You want Krebs. Fine. Take 2 seconds to look at the Knights cap space. They have a 20 man roster and no cap space. Krebs is not a roster player. So who on the Knights are the Sabres taking to clear 10 mill of space? And how many players would they have to take to make that space since all of the big contracts have NTC clauses. Then what happens when Eichel comes to the knights and goes to LTIR. Are they going to play with a 17-18 man roster?
It is almost impossible to make a trade between Vegas and the Sabres work.
Wrong.
Eichel, goes on LTIR at $10m.
Olofsson (50% retained), $1.5 provides immediate scoring capability on either wing.
One of John Hayden ($0.75m), Drake Caggiula ($0.75m), Vinny Hinostroza ($1.0m)
[TOTAL CAP = $12.25m to $12.5m, HOWEVER Jack on LTIR nets them an additional $'s they can leverage from LTIR credit, while also reducing their Cap hit immediately by about $2.5m to $2.75m ($5.0 - $1.5m - [$0.75 or $1.0m])
Tuch ($4.75m)
Smith ($5.0m) [form of a Cap dump]
Krebs, non-rostered
Korcazk, non-rostered
Vegas '22-1st, no conditions, no protection
Vegas '23-2nd, conditional..becomes '23-1st if VGK makes WCF in '22 PO 's
Jack has surgery in late December, recovery of 4.5 months ... perfect "Kucherov" scenario for return in Playoffs...VGK just needs to do their part to "get in". |

If Vegas wanted Eichel so bad then why did they blow their final $5m of cap space on Dadanov?
Many readers have asked to speculate on a plausible trade offer and none is ever provided. They have no cap space, a bunch of high priced guys on NTCs, but somehow they can make room for $10m Eichel?? - HockeyBuzzed
Yup.
Yes sir, they can. |

That additional LTIR credit is huge...let's them trade for Dylan Strome to get additional help at C...which then enables them to trade him and/or others at the TDL to restock their futures a bit |

No it isn't. It took me about 10 minutes to come up with a reasonable proposal on CF, where the cap/rostering is legal for both teams. Yes it needs to get a little creative and Alex Tuch probably needs to be involved. |

Lol. They become a much much worse team under this scenario. This is a terrible deal for Vegas. Completely laughable. |

Is it possible? Yes. That is why I said almost impossible. Is it probable? Hell no. Vegas is trying to make a push to win the cup. Any scenario that works cap wise makes them worse. Krebs, a first or two, Smith, Tuch for A guy that will need surgery and likely miss 6 months or more while adding some crap bottom 6 players is a complete waste of time for Vegas. It’s ridiculous. |

Good to know that Vegas needs "HELPS" and not help...
must be looking at other immediate impact players, Shea Weber, Jack Eichel, .... |

So just to recap...
The Vegas owner spent the entire summer knowing that Chandler Stephenson was his #1 center.
He gives MAF away, opening up $7m of cap space.
Rather than acquire a 1C the plan was to blow $5m of that on Dadanov, a winger who really wasn't needed. Then enter the season with $0 cap space.
After a 1-1 start the pressure to WIN NOW builds and the owner won't rest at night until he can add Eichel.
All makes sense to me... |

Risto doesn’t play for Buffalo any longer. And that wouldn’t work cap wise. |

For a guy that may not play this year due to needing surgery, that surgery may or may not have a negative impact on his play/career, clearly has an attitude problem, and by all accounts doesn’t seem to be much of a team player. What team in their right mind is trading anything worthwhile for this package of crap? |
