games like last night happen, sometimes.. Won't be facing Shesterkin every night..

Eventually, those near misses will turn into goals.

Thanks Pat.

I needed that.

And yes I know you were talking about the Leafs but still.

Probably should give Ritchie more than 1 game to determine if he can play with AM and MM.
- PatC80

Yes, we are happy to give Marner a longer leash at 4+ times the salary after all.

Kase if he can play LW.

Move Bunting up.

Engvall.

Ho-Sang

With AM and Marner its all about fit, talent can vary. Galchenyuk was a fit next to them.

I am all for giving Kerf some talent to play with though.

- Santo_44

Why Kerfoot? Maybe stick with Mitch, Auston and Nick... We can call them the MAN line..

If Ritchie can't keep up in the O zone they need someone else there.

His net front presence will be good on any line.

Hard to win when you average 2 goals a game.

Sadly Spatso shot from the hip, and his lack of fact checking proved him to be an idiot. Again

Campbell is first in the league in GAA and 2nd in save % overall.

Kind have to be a simpleton, out for a morning troll, to suggest goaltending is the team's weakness right now.

here you go:

This is an important point. I have always thought the Toronto media had way too much influence in the Leaf decision making. The media creates a theme, they pump the theme and everyone comes to believe in the theme because nobody wants to break the story line.

I believe the Austin Matthews story is a prime example of a runaway theme. Matthews was not even close to being the best player in the draft after Christmas. Both Finns were clearly better and had it not been for the media pumping his story as the Leafs first overall selection he would have dropped to third or fourth. Simply, everyone had too much invested into the storyline too pull back on the story everyone (including fans) wanted to see.

Anyway it will be apparent once the season starts that Matthews (a good player) does not punch in the same class as the Finns. Leaf fans will likely be discouraged. But, I don't think anyone will figure it out. They will wonder why everyone missed on Laine and they will blame Leaf management. They will miss on the pervasive influence the media has on Leaf management decisions.

Nylander is a good player on a decent contract. I'm happy he's on the team carrying all the other dead weight around.

I think Nylander's ceiling was on display at the worlds couple years ago. If he can get consistent then watch out.

Also, Nylander is pretty and Ehlers has a stupid face.

- TheMussel

Stupid face aside, I wouldnt be upset if we had Ehlers, he has a lot skill and physicality.
That being said, Wilster has improved over the past two seasons, doesnt float as much, goes to the corners, goes to the net. Ive liked his game over that stretch.

I like Bunting with Snake and Willie.

Trade Kerfoot and other pieces for a legit Top 6 LW please!

If I had to guess, it would be;

Price (assuming he's back and physically and mentally healthy)
Kuemper
Hart

- PatC80

I missed Mackenzie Blackwood - because he's unvaccinated he may not qualify. Even if he does get vaccinated, because he's currently unvaccinated he may not qualify. But that's a different issue altogether.

I'm not sold on Hart. Last year he had a 36% Quality Start rate. That's freaking awful. Brian Elliot who is a mediocre goalie outplayed him by a noticeable margin. Alex Lyon - who is not even really a plug at the NHL level - outplayed him in a small sample.

So far this year in 2 games Hart has been ok (one good, one bad). He needs to string something together to prove he's stable and consistent and actually good. Binnington has been more stable, but he's also off to a bad start this year.

I like Fleury for his big-game ability and how his teammates always seem to pick up the game for him - but in his limited 2 game sample in Chicago, he's getting absolutely reamed.

Pretty sure someone ran Campbell over last night, where was the guy we signed to take care of that poop? Pretty sure he was on the ice when it happened. If Nicks not scoring he should be mushing faces.

But what pieces? We'll have no depth...or were you meaning strictly picks?
Kerfoot is needed on this team, I know many dont like his 3.5 cap, but he's consistently a good player both in the reg season and playoffs.

Price is fine if he’s available.

I think a few of his poorer years ( reg season ) had a lot more to do with the team and their D ( new D - injured Weber ) etc.

He looked fine in the playoffs.

More then fine, ALL STAR fine…..
