Yes, Jones looked solid last night, none of the goals were his fault, he at least mad the saves he was supposed to make. I am looking forward to seeing MacEwen play more, hopefully he get more physical as he gains comfort. He was good in his own zone last night from what I saw. - jd250
I think RR had a couple bad situations, but that's who he is. We got him for his physicality which we really needed. So take the good with the bad, he should be a decent 2nd line D. But he got Coyle or Mcavoy, i forget which, to take that penalty after a hard hit. And honestly, that top bruins line can make any D look bad. |

Yes. I do think he was a bit off however. Those two situations are attention to detail and I expect him to clean that up once the rust is off. |

So far the results through 3 games have been good 5 out of a possible 6 points. But they aren't really playing well. Ristolainen was a mess last night, first game give him a pass. The 4th line is a travesty. When Hayes comes back that will help. |

I thought the team played very well vs Seattle. Last night they were on their heels a lot but were opportunistic scoring. |

The B's first line is arguably the best in the business. They got one faceoff away from Couturier's line and they scored. Coots line played more D than you like but the depth added the offense. Farabee and Atkinson are magic together.

That’s probably the plan there. Line 1. Do your best to neutralize their line 1 and see if our depth can carry the load. |

Can't score unless you shoot and so far the Flyers are shooting much more versus trying to make the perfect play. - jd250
They are taking more of a shot first approach. However the point is that the puck luck and shooting percentage is not going to continue. For example, Farabee, Brassard and Konecny are all shooting over 30%. Atkinson at 23%.

I haven’t been tracking. What’s the deal with Patrick brown? Still trying to get a visa 2 weeks on? Is he a terrorist or something? Jesus. - Hextall271
In Covid protocol, should be practicing with team on Sat and will be a game time decision. |

Yes, they had a lot of puck luck yesterday, not all those shots were going in last year for sure, and Swayman was off his game tonight. |

The seemed to get outshot quite a bit, but did do a great job keeping the shots to the outside, limiting high danger shots. Jones played well, but he didnt have to make huge saves to get the win, just stop what you should.

I thought so too, I didn't check the stats yet but it didn't appear to me there were a lot of dangerous chances by the Bruins, the defensive structure, zone coverage and down low puck battles seemed a lot better tonight. Less turnovers (at least from what I saw) also. - jd250
Didn't you say you only watched the 3rd period? High danger chances were 16-4 in favor of the Bruins for the game. Including a whopping 10 high danger chances given up in the 2nd period by the Flyers.

I only saw the third period of the Seattle game. So you are probably right. Saturday will be a good test as well. Brassard has been a nice surprise so far. I thought that was a good under the radar signing. |

Although the shot count didn’t look good, a lot of the saves Jones had to make were from outside shots. That’s just fine. What I noticed was we were more patient in defending and looked more organized. Their top line is killer so it got a little crazy when they were out there. Top line like you said seemed to focus on defending which is fine. Depth got it done until the first line broke through. Rr looked off and I hope he’s just rusty. He’s got to be hard around the net taking sticks and bodies or he’s not a lot of use. Hope he gets it together. Early but good win. Let’s see how they do vs a crazy good Florida team. - Hextall271
Agree they seem more patient in defending. RR will be ok, even on the rat goal his instincts were right, he just needed to get his stick on the rays stick quicker and be hard on it as you said. Last year the team wasn’t in 5 feet of getting to the guy. Once there was sustained pressure it was just a matter of time before a big break down would happen.
Sanheim really using his wheels to move out that puck, like him so far |

Couldn’t have asked for a better start from him and yandle. And Ellis for that matter.
Importantly. What is yandle brought in to do? Be a top line defender or run the pp. generate scoring chances and then play 3rd line minutes. |

Overall a nice win for the Flyers. I love the chemistry of Farabee and Atkinson, they look great out there. For them it starts in the neutral zone, they position themselves well and have good sticks to create turnovers, and both can fly back the other way to generate chances. I love that they are shooting also because both have great shots! I also thought Yandle had a great game on both ends of the ice yesterday, slick pass off the boards to set up the 3rd goal, and nice slot coverage near the end to set up Coots on the empty net goal. Great to see RR in the lineup, but especially in the 2nd period he made a couple of bad plays that lead to two Bruin goals. First first was an ill advised line change when his keep-in was intercepted by a Bruin. RR has got to keep his head up and make a better decision there. Then on the Bruins 3rd goal, RR found himself puck watching instead of tying up Marchand's stick in the crease. I also didn't notice RR being as physical as he can be, so wondering if that upper body injury is still a factor. Hopefully, fingers crossed, he will get better with more games under his belt. - jd250
Yandle did not have anywhere close to a great game.

He had a bad icing play which cost us, but I’m being nit picky. Beginning of the year. I’m happy for gathering points though. What is didnt want to see was a bad start where we’re completely in catch-up mode by December.

Yes, I only saw the 3rd period and highlights of the first 2 periods. I also don't always agree with the definition of a high danger chance, but even in the highlights that 2nd period was not a good defensive period, starting with RR gaffs. |

Yeah first line lost the possession battle for sure but the Bs first line wasn’t getting chance after chance, think the first line for Flyers focused to much on defending. The ABB line was the most dangerous line on the ice and I like what I saw from the Laughton line, Flyers depth won the game. Now Thompson and Nak oofff, Thompson can’t keep up and nak just makes bone head plays. I liked our new wingers game, upgrade nak and Thompson and he could chip in. I’d rather see the kid who got sent down than nak. When Hayes and Allison come back you could see Laughton, Allison and new guy, that would be an interesting 4th line
Sorry for being lazy and not looking up names, to early - wcorvette
It was clearly the game plan to minimize the damage by the Bruin’s perfectionist line. That line was paired with the top d pairing also. It was dangerous. Flyers put there best out against them. They got out played but kept them to one point.
That 2nd line is still humming. In no way does Bassard look washed up or a board line 3rd lineman. He may be that but I don’t see it. He has some real chemistry going on with the kid and Cam. Two shoot first guys and Bassard just makes good plays with the puck.
Jones look great last night. I was worried about him but he stood up to some tough shots.
Florida will be another test. |

Sounds like a good game. I missed it. NHL network airs a replay this afternoon so I can record that and watch it later.
How did the Laughton line look? I saw his goal. Defense pairings?

Ellis has been solid from what I've seen so far. Yandle is an asset on the PP and can move the puck well, but he's not very good in his own end. But that is pretty much expected. |

There seems to be this idea floating around that the Flyers had this game plan for the Flyers first line to go out and play defense and defend against the Bruins top line. Other than game planning the matchup, that is surely not the case. The simple fact is that the Flyers top line was really poor last night and got thoroughly outplayed. They've played 3 games and other than the game against an expansion team. The Flyers team play so far is eerily reminiscent to the beginning of 20/21. The type of hockey they played last night is not winning hockey long term.

I am absolutely certain that the team knew that when they got him. If he’s able to improve our pp, and survive in his 3rd paining line minutes then it’s a win |
