Where would they be without laughton. Get the phuck out of here with he is a key player. Then I guess captain clode is a super duper key player.
NAK can play up and down the lineup. Does that make him a key player? Braun can play on any pair according to the coach. Does that make him a key plyer? - hello it's me 2050

I think they can be better, but they haven't been "brutal" as some say.
Ideally Laughton will get moved to 4C once Hayes is healthy. - MBFlyerfan
The line has been not brought much but Laughton can play much better. A game like tonight is usually when he shines |

If he crushes the Rat tonight he may change our minds on #17 |

A guy who can play up and down the lineup in multiple roles depending on need/injury/etc?
Yep. - MBFlyerfan
Interesting. i would describe brassard in the same way.

He definitely has to "earn" that number. Holmgren, Brindy and Simmer stand out. Carter, ahh. Ed Hospodar. I think Chief was #17 at one point. |

It’s good that they have not been a black hole but offensively they have looked a bit lost. Jvr is a tough sell to folks because he’s such a straight line player, when he’s on he’s working the cycle and getting to the net, nothing sexy about his game besides a quick roof job in tight from time to time. - ClaudeFather
That was one sexy backhand pass he made to Braun, tho. |

Didn't realize busts could score 46-goals in a season. |

I don't think they have been bad, just Laughton needs to get into a grove, he seems to be fighting the puck a little, it has only been 2 games. the schedule really stinks, I think they need practice time but to begin the season they need to play games.

How are they sheltering him? Assuming he's starting against them, Florida is 3-0 and scored at least 4 goals in every game so far. They've beaten some good teams too already, only giving up a goal in 2 out of the 3 games as well.
I think either way he's in for a tough game. - Ftown19125
Road game vs Home game....Team that has owned him vs team he hasnt played against much...much less pressure playing on the road and not playing Boston..thats how...Not saying Florida is not a good team they are maybe better then Boston but clear they are sheltering him from Boston for now |

a bunch have said before....I like him better at lw. still defensively responsible but is able to get in on the forecheck. at center has more responsibility down low and i not overly crafty in handling the puck. 3rd lw would be ideal. May be hard for him to take this from oscar though. getting his strength back he has been strong on the boards. |

good thing for Laughton and the Flyers is he can play anywhere and he will consistently put up ES points

Cheechoo wasn't a bust, either. His health just went splat.
Carter scored 180+ goals in 6 seasons as a Flyer. In what universe is that considered a bust? |

Didn't know key players skate on the 3rd line or possibly the 4th line. At best he replaces Lindblom on the 3rd. - WhiskeyMan
Ask TB how key their 3rd line of Gourde, Goodrow and Coleman was to their Cup run last year. Seems there is some education that needs to take place.

I've liked Lindblom thus far. Strong on the puck and winning some board battles. JVR will get going on the PP. Adding Brassard in the center would be a good 3rd line.
That pushes Laughton down to 4th line with Nate and one of NAK, MacEwen, etc.
I still believe that Allison is the odd man out right now. I wouldn't rush his recovery. Get him minutes in LV when he is fully healed. Unless there is an injury and he needs to come up quicker, I wouldn't rush his recovery from the high ankle sprain.
Laughton is a strong piece on this team. Can play center. Decent faceoff guy. PK. - cdearth23
I don't think there is any doubt that when Allison is ready to play, around December is my guess, that he will go down to the Phantoms for a while.

I think Laughton is wasted on the 4th line. Who is part of the future? Brassard or Laughton? That's who should stay on the 3rd line. Need to build continuity and stability in the lineup.

Or, their play should dictate where they play in the lineup at any given time. |
