I think Carolina is a lock and cannot count out Pens...all going to come down to when these teams play each other and GOALTENDING.....few games into the season and Metropolitan division is 19-5-6 - hfc355
Carolina is a tough out. I think Andersen is underrated in the reg season anyways |

You’d think. As always, you build from the net out. They need to get a better tender or two as well as upgrade that d. Similar to leafs. It’s all fun in October when the checking is light. When spring hits and mcd and draisaitl are checked hard, they can’t score 7 goals a game and need the d and g to win 2 1. 3 2.
Even look at that juggernaut Tampa. Their key to success is Hedman and vas. They had to win those 1 0 games in semis and final. - Hextall271

Yep, checking is always lighter at the start of the season. Teams will gel and get better in their systems play and the intensity will pick up.

I meant flyers games. I watched them all on csn where I’m at. I don’t have msg as a Chanel - Peter Richards
Me, too, when they play those teams. I'm in that television market.

Just looked at nhl stats. Mcdavid already has 11 points. How many does this kid get this year. - Peter Richards
Last year he was on 154 point pace if he played all 82 and currently is on a 225 point pace, so depending on how many games he plays and how his line mates are around him, McDavid could approach 200 points which we would not have seen the likes of since Lemieux and Gretzky! |

Would be impressive. It’s been years since numbers like that have been posted. Maybe jagr in 05-06 but I think he was in the 120s.
Would be nice to see a 60 goal scorer again. - Peter Richards
1995 was Jagr's best year, 149 pts. |

after the 04 lockout with rule changes. I think jagr has the highest point total in a season. |

can we at least wait until he is 20-30 games in before we start talking about him breaking records. Or might as well throw Farabee into the convo for breaking records also. He isnt far off the pace

Big measuring stick game tomorrow night! The Panthers are downright scary and they pressure the puck all over the ice. Will be a very good test for the revamped Flyers lineup. They are a very exciting team, but it sucks that they play in a market that doesn't give a rat's arse about hockey. |

If you notice I was not just talking this year but also factoring his pace last year and even the year before. Even if he goes by last year's pace of 1.8 pts/game, we are looking at one of the best seasons in recent memory.
BTW, right now the Flyers have 5 players in the top 25 in scoring, surely it will not stay this way but its nice to see even if short-lived |

Always wanted DuClair and I would have preferred Thornton over Thompson. Really depends if Thornton can still play center. Toronto moved him to Matthews’ left wing. |

What is with the Giroux and Ottawa trade rumors? What do they have that we could possibly want and don’t say Brady Tkachuk! |

agree with Duclair, not sure on Thornton. Duclairs speed is awesome and he is was affordable. If Nate doesn't paly better they will have to sit him. When Hayes comes back he should be the odd man out.

I would have signed Jumbo even if only to be the 13th forward. Guy is such a great teammate and does so much for team cohesion.

I’d say 225 points. And the oilers lose first round again.. - Hextall271
You seem to really harbor a dislike for the Canadian franchises.
Move to the States already, lol.

Blackout agreements are archaic and unnecessary. The NHL needs to get with the times. - Scoob
Yeah.
Ofc, we're talking about a league that let Bill Wirtz keep home games off of TV for how long? Literally had to wait for the guy to die before things could change. |

its not that i wanted him, but would've taken a chance on him. Agree about thornton over thompson....everyday. He would add grit to that 4th line. just need to make sure the two linemates can skate as he does not move the same as he used too. |

Grit is not an adjective I would apply to Joe Thornton as a player. |

Wow, guy puts on a Flyers uni and he gets injured the next day it seems. This organization is jinxed. Playing without Ellis tomorrow night should be fun. It would be a major test with him in the lineup and he seems to have settled Provorov down too. Oh my if he can't play. Might have to tie one on to watch that game. |
