Hyman has nothing more than a PP goal (he was able to be wide open playing with McDavid even tho he’s normally on line 2), an assist, 4 penalty minutes, and is minus 3 so far this year.

Don’t miss him, he’s definitely not worth what he’s getting paid for the next 7 years lol

Hyman is a more responsible player, but I like the style that Bunting plays. Works hard and gets into the greasy areas in front of the net. Hyman would dump the puck into the corner on a breakaway and go chase after it.

I think we're basically saying the same things. It has been a long time since we had someone who would score in the greasy areas - JVR to some extent did it, but I often found he was inconsistent in that area (some games he lived there, and some games he'd moved out and was living in a nearby neighbourhood) . . .you might have to go back as far as Andreychuk to find someone who was consistently on the crease.

Bunting to be on the cover of NHL 23!!!

Btw, love what I'm seeing from Bunting so far. He's one persistant guy in front of the net.

Offer sheets will be coming in next year!

Hyman will get points all year for sure.
But.
I feel what he brought can be replaced for a much cheaper cap rate.
Which, (albeit only 4 games in) seems to be the case.

I admit that I'm less worried about Hutch. When you watch him scramble, he's terrifying because he doesn't look like he has a clue. There's no way to watch him sometimes and just think, "This guy isn't supposed to be a goalie."

That said, if you ignore 2019 - and we should because under Babcock that team was a disaster that year - he has a .917 save percentage in a Leaf uniform.

If you separate 2019 into Babcock and Keefe, Hutchinson had a .839 save percentage under Babcock (1-3 record), and a .914 save percentage (2-3 record) under Keefe.

In other words, for the most part you're getting a .915 goalie playing when Hutch is in net.

Visibly I don't like him, but objectively he's decent.

Unfortunately it won't be for the Leafs and we won't get any assets back in a trade cuz, you know, Cup Contender Leafs are in the house so no need to trade UFAs we can't afford!!!

He's getting to the crease, but his goals aren't really greasy. He doesn't battle in front and take cross-checks and battle with the defensemen to score. He gets into the hard areas to get higher danger shots - but he doesn't hang out there.

JT's first year, he had the bumper spot on the PP and has a good enough shot to score from there..

Why would Willie stand in front of the net to score? That doesn’t fit his build or his skill set. That’s what Bunting does on that line (among other things) and what Ritchie should be doing.

Willie and Bunting are in the corners and along the boards retrieving pucks, working off together. We get so used to seeing a player a certain way, that’s all we see.

Signed for 2 years at 950k.

What a bargain until then.

Why the hell did Arizona let him go?
