He scored 40 his first year with brown and hyman. I think he can get 50 with or without Marner. - bryant

Are you sure?
Is that your heart on the ice at PNC Arena where Kotkaniemi tipped that puck? Asking out of medical concern. |

Pretty sure it was Stinger's (good guy in the Habs thread)
I didn't even bother watching the game, went to see Dune instead. First time at the movies in over 2 years. |

A friend of mine said it was, "Simply wow". He's a huge Dune nerd, so that's high praise. |

You might want to forget this season until you draft Shane Wright with the way this is going. |

By the way I *did* watch the game, and like the other games this year - the Habs are a strange team. They don't look out of it - they have chances, they crash the net, they get off decent shots - but things go wide, hit posts, hit legs, or players. From the 5 on 5 play I saw, it was a relatively even game.
Here's what I don't like: I don't like that you guys have a homer announcer. You even have Dave Poulin - a f'n Leaf guy - doing colour and he's boosting up the Habs. I mean they ARE 0-5. But they get props and kudos all game long.
As a Leaf fan, I feel that we haven't had an announcer who actually likes the team since they took Joe Bowen off TV. I want an announcer who's there for me when my team is poopting the bed to lie to me and tell me it's going to be ok. To lie to me and give me false hope. I don't want Harry Neale's honest objectivity - screw you, buddy! Take your honesty and cram it up Glenn Healy! - I want lies and to feel good about how awful things are. |

Two questions: When does the Bergy countdown begin (what is his tragic number specifically?)
Has there ever been NHL trolling as masterful as what the Canes are doing to the Habs?

How many Carolina fans were watching that telecast last night? Of course they’re going to tilt to the Habs. Poulin was fired by the Leafs. He’s got his guys on the Leafs and guys he doesn’t like. If he says smart stuff who guys about his biases.
There’s maybe two or three guys on all of TSN tv or radio worth listening to.

The Habs blog comments have a lot of folks calling for Bergy's head on a platter......and a fair bit of doom and gloom talk. People calculating what they think the habs have to go as far as wins and losses the rest of the year to get into the playoffs & a general "we ain't going to do that" attitude about the playoffs.
I get it (because it happens in here) but I hate it here or there - look how quickly it can turn around with a big winning streak. Look at the Blue Jays last year for example and how they went from what a 5% chance of making the post season to barely missing.
Writing off a season that is 82 games long after 5 games is so crazy to me but it is what it is. |

Reimer was in the net last night. I'd say it's a good bet he'll start tonight.
With Matthews shaking off some rust, it may not be wize to start Hill. |

Oh I don't disagree that they shouldn't be expected to be near the playoff team they were last year after all they lost and common sense says your right....BUT.....We are talking about Montreal here, so I am less confident that an owner wouldn't use Bergy as the human shield / sacrificial lamb if things go (continue to go) south.
I'm also not even sure some part of Bergy wouldn't be a bit relieved to be relieved of his job......he looks stressed to the max to me, most of the time. That job (same for the GM in Toronto) has to take years off your life!
Scabeh - what do you think? |

Will they renew his contract during the season if things continue as they are? If they aren’t going to renew his contract, why keep him? |

I would tend to agree that the TSN crew is terrible, a couple of points though, Lindsay Hamilton and Natasha Staniszewski are hot
and let us not forget O'Neill's Race with Al's Brother!

You can never accuse Habs fans of not being passionate about their team. The die hard hockey fans know doom and gloom all-too-well. Especially as a Leaf fan after so many years of mediocre to awful teams without any clear plan to make it better . . . When things are going well, you don't enjoy it - you're waiting for the bottom to fall out so you can say, "I (frank)ing knew it all along!" When things are going poorly, you're somehow in your comfort zone. Mired in sadness or apathy where you belong.
These last few years with the Leafs, playoff disappointments aside, have been very very confusing for a lot of us.
If anyone can empathize with Habs fans right now, it's Leaf fans. We won't, of course, but we totally can. |
