Lehner robbed Brock point blank at least 3 times.
- niteislander

Lehner played well last night. Nothing shabby about a save % of .923.

But Sorokin was even better.

He really looks like a fantastic prospect.

- niteislander

If he keeps scoring and playing well I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a look at some point this season. Especially if Chara continues to be absolute garbage.

I remember when Steve Valiquette did a video montage on why Berube was going to be the Next Big Thing and it basically came down to, his head usually faces the general direction where the puck comes from.

Seems pretty clear that Aho is not going to play under Trotz

I agree, I mean he might get a shot but I think he’s too small and Salo and Bolduc for me are a better choice.

Well the spacing between games for the next couple weeks sure sucks. 5 days until they play again, then another 4 before the next game....then 3 games in 4 days

I don't even care who plays at this point, as long as it isn't Chara. They could throw Hickey in there and it'd be an improvement

Been away from my computer all weekend.. catching up on all the comments.

I really never understand the Beau hate.. the guy skates full speed every single shift, even though he is one of the smallest guys on the team he is one of the best in the corners doing board work. He doesn't seem to ever turn the puck over and causes fits for the other team... all that is when he isn't scoring. You guys make it like He's Eberle out there.. I don't get it at all.

- niteislander

This is probably directed at me because I seem to be the only guy critical of him at times and I use the term critical very loosely. I don’t hate Beau I think he’s a decent player. I usually hyphenate most of my posts saying as much. He’s pretty damn inconsistent as a player and when he’s not on I really don’t see him as being impactful like some do. With that said I think he’s an important part of the team. Like I’ve said in the past I look at him as a lesser Marty Mcinnis same kind of player imo.

I was so sure he wouldn't be nearly as bad as he is. Boy was I wrong.

Meh, I’m not gonna go that far. Chara was never known to be a good skater and made up for it with his incredible wing span and strength and as his career went on experience of course. I think the team in whole hasn’t been close to being as good as we’ve come to know with and without the puck. The turnovers on the blue lines and in between have made every one of our dman look slow when the opponents are able to transition off the TO with speed. Not saying Chara is what he was but just not throwing Hickey in there to replace him at this point. He’s also playing a different system with a different team and it takes time to get acclimated.
Barry also must think he’s the better option because you would think if he’s been as terrible as the thread thinks he would definitely have been in the presser for game 2 of a back to back.
Just my opinion of course.

I have a few questions for everyone/anyone. I'm planning on going to a game, probably February or March and I plan on driving there (coming from Indiana). How will the parking be at UBS (since it doesn't appear to be great on Google Earth)? Are there any nice hotels near the new arena? What would be the best mode of transportation there, drive/Uber/train?

Maybe it will take him a little more time to acclimate to Barry's system, but he hasn't looked good thus far. Yes, he has never been fleet of foot, but it's the turnovers in their own zone that get me. He just doesn't seem comfortable or confident. Perhaps that will come as communication/chemistry with his D partners grows. Also, to me, his positioning is off. He takes himself out of position in the D-zone chasing a man and he doesn't have the foot speed to get back like he used to. Just my 2 cents.

Word is parking will be sufficient however you may have to walk a bit or take a shuttle from the parking area/garage your in. The Marriott next to the Coli is 7 miles away and is a nice hotel. I don’t know about any hotels close to UBS but I’m sure their are.
If you stay west of the Arena in Manhattan or Queens the train is an option if your east of the Arena you have to travel to Jamaica Queens and change trains and go back east which imo isn’t an good option.
They are building another spur/station which will have direct access from the east but that won’t be operational until maybe the opening of next season.

I think every dman has turned over the puck and been skated past this year so far more than we are used to and the reason being is they just haven’t been clean/tight enough away from the puck, exiting the d zone and also just puck management. He’s been a beast in front of the net which has always been a strength of his. The Islanders play more of a zone than man to man in their zone and you have to have confidence in your team mates especially when your handing your man off. I thought his worst game was against Florida but to be fair the Islanders passed the puck to The Cats more than themselves so everyone was exposed and caught out of position constantly that game.

Chara is slow. He was the same player with Washington last season. I still believe he has to get familiar with his surroundings a bit but like I’ve been saying ad nauseam he has to play limited time imo. I’m hoping we’ll see a better player in a month or so which will be connected to him getting his timing and positioning acclimated and trotz figuring out how to utilize him.

a few guys agree with u though... I think Beau is a beast. Guys like Beau that go full tilt every shift are my favorite type of player. It's guys that lost their will to compete that drive me insane.

I 100% agree.. I can't believe how bad Chara really is.. I mean he's not only slow as sht he is getting tossed around like he's a little guy. I had never seen anyone dump Chara on his arse when he was in his prime. He gets knocked down 3 or 4 times a game. I really hope they don't hesitate to make the move. He is a HOF but it's not our problem.. He never was our captain or won us a cup. He shouldn't be our problem on a "show some respect" front.. He's done. period.. stop the nonsense.

Kids a beast on the forecheck just doesn’t give up. He’s the speed and motor on that line. Much like Zeeker on his, JGP on his and of course in a greater extent Barzal on his.

I just watched the replay of the game last night. Almost every unbelievable save that Sorokin made last night was b/c someone went right by Chara.

I honestly think I’m the only one who could be perceived as being negative on Beau
