Atkinson plays a complete game and makes 2 million less against the cap. He literally saved at least two 10 bell scoring chances while the Cats were on the PP tonight and he also had a shortie! Voracek is a one demensional soft player and you don't win with guys like him. Atkinson plays a more complete game and it's not even close. Go ahead, tell us how great Voracek is.

With each post you prove that you don't know what I'm talking about. It was a simple conversation to follow with simple statements. I'll spell it out for you.

My point is that you can like Atkinson as a player and like the trade without having to disparage Voracek as a player or blaming him for the Flyers team issues. He was a really good player for this team for a significant period of time. Top 5 in the franchise all time in assists. The Flyers needed to change the mix and add more of a shooter and a straight line net driver as opposed to a playmaker. It also helps that Atkinson can help out in other ways such as on the PK and it saved the Flyers some cap space. None of that diminishes how good of a player Voracek was for the Flyers. The Flyers also clearly miss Voracek's transition play especially with Hayes out.

As well they shouldn’t. One was a very good set up man for well over a decade, and the other is more of a scorer. They’re two different types of forward.
I understand why some Flyers fans became annoyed with Jake. Likely ennui. But he was who he was, and didn’t really get a whole lot of time setting up a sniper.
Flyers fans have been wanting that guy who you knew was going to put the puck in the net since…I dunno…Carter? Maybe Gagne during his hot streak?
G showed some flash, but he was always more of a playmaker.

When did I disparage Voracek? Did I ever say he sucks? I'm just saying that Atkinson is a player that will be much more valuable for the Flyers to get where they need to go. Voracek can drive the play in transition as you said and I don't dispute that. On a championship caliber team Voracek would be a good add, but on this particular team Atkinson is much more a needed commodity! I've never said Voracek sucks, but you don't win with guys like him as your front line player or leader. It's just reality. For the record, I thought the team played well tonight until the Yandle gaffe. Many more plays like that and I'll be screaming for York!! Hart played well and I don't blame him at all for the winning goal.

That was not a lucky play. Hart was still down from the original save and he banked it off of him intentionally. That was a skill play by a skillful player.

It was a smart play but low percentage and he got lucky that it worked. Behind the net banking it off the tender takes an element of luck to execute.

We took far too many penalties regardless. I don’t think the ref had a particularly strong game but you can’t have that many penalties and win. No excuses. We also didn’t execute and bob played wel as he always does vs us.
