While the game is a lesson in momentum management and another wasted good effort, this game was lost by bad reffing causing the team to lose their minds and Chris Kreider being the cheap shot artist he is known to be.

That knee to Murray was intentional (you could see it on the replay of the goal), and his hit on Norris at the end of the game suspension worthy. He deserves a two games at least and the refs deserve to never work again for multiple blown calls and horrible game management leading to more player injuries and illegal headshots than I have seen in a game this season.

The reason people harp on refs is not just that they get calls wrong, but that the blown calls give players the leeway to be more aggressive and dirty in how they play as the game progresses. None of Blais, Trouba, Kreider, Paul, Tkachuk, Kelly or any of the other hot heads should’ve been on the ice at the end, refs should’ve sent them all to the room earlier in the 3rd after the fights. The game got increasingly dirty and cheap as it went on because they were allowed to get away with it.

Is it on the Sens for losing their composure? Yes, but they also lost because the refs were doing nothing to control the players that were making the game more aggressive and dangerous to play in.

That’s two losses in a row against teams that shoulda had no chance winning. We completely dominated both the Rags and the Sharks. And it angers me we aren’t getting out of those two games with 4 points.

I’m not normally much of a ref basher, as it normally hurts both ways, but in this instance they single-handedly gave the game to the Sharks. Absolute BS embellishment call. Results in them tying the game and then riding the momentum to the win. Total horse shlop!

Glass half empty - they're certainly both games that a legitimate playoff team would have found a way to win. Defensive quality beyond Chabot/Zub and Centre quality beyond Norris/Tierney is being exposed just days into the season. Zaitsev, Mete, and Del Zotto are the 3 worst +/- players on the team, and none of Norris, Stutzle, Batherson, or Tkachuk have more than 2pts.

Glass half full - despite multiple roster issues, they've played well enough to be 4-1 to start the season. Holding leads will be substantially easier when the likes of Sanderson/Bernard-Docker are supporting the 2nd/3rd d-pairings. Brown, Paul, Ennis, and Tierney have stepped up as supporting veterans, and Tkachuk is getting back up to speed. All three goaltenders have played well, with Murray/Gustavsson having a sv% > 0.930.

Bad officiating will always happen on occasion, but it shouldn't overshadow the fact that the early-season play has been a vast improvement over last year.

Since the topic of the Leafs has been brought up…

Did you guys see one of their fans threw a jersey on the ice following their loss to SJ? Lmfao!! In that fans defence, he’s probably been waiting to do that since the playoff collapse.

Even funnier; the big news was that they requested management’s permission to “relax the dress code.” I’m glad to see their priorities are in the right place. What a joke. Fans are throwing jerseys on the ice and they’re worried about the frickin dress code. Marner has 1 assist and no goals in six games. Matthews pointless in his three games. Yeah, you guys deserve to take off the suit and ties and slip into something more comfortable.

The reffing sucked but each goal still falls on a player. A dumb penalty by Kelly, weak defence, etc.

A much tougher test coming on Monday, hopefully thigns can get back on track.

Reading on other websites, Stutlze is gaining a reputation for a diver?

I thought the call yesterday was BS, but previous instances may have played a role.

Either way, it will be interesting to watch as he's going to draw a lot of penalties.

It was Gord. I messaged him. We had 5 people between 45-50 points for the contest.
