There’s such a tendency to form an opinion and then express it which mean your locked in and can never waiver from it. You’ve certainly done that with Nylander. Very little on your list of Willie cliches is actually accurate. He’s pretty good on the boards and has worked well with Bunting on retrievals. He’s made some good defensive plays. I doubt he’s ever going to be a shot blocker but he’s reasonably responsible. And no, he doesn’t kill offense, quite the opposite in fact.

1. Mitch is on 1st PK and Willie on 3rd (but certainly you are/were wrong saying Willie can and never will play defense)

2. Willie actually gets the puck out of the zone sooner and can change after 20-30 seconds instead of being hemmed in for a minute plus per PK

I heard Bourne talk about how good he was at almost blocking shots. He could come really close a lot but always just miss the puck. I don’t think Willie will ever be a true PK guy but to say he’s a flop defensively is just to keep running the same tropes because you don’t have anything else to say.
