NEW YORK POST: Larry Brooks wonders when the talk begins about Chicago Blackhawks stars Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews becoming available at the March 21 trade deadline. The duo has two years remaining on their contracts with matching $10.5 million cap hits and full no-movement clauses.
Then this bomb surfaced!
Could Kane want to go home and Eichel goes to Chi-town!!!
I dropped this on Theo's blog as well. |

been looking at comments since I offered Eichel....after reading your comments, I think you may very well be onto something. Whilst I may be fond of acquiring someone like Eichel (sounds good on paper....), the reality is that whomever we may get wouldn't need to be hitting their stride for another couple of years when the Wings could be challenging for the SCPO.
Good call! - mcmastermike1968
Yeah I’m thinking more of a Foudy, Dellandrea, Denisenko type guy as a potential piece coming back. |

THAT really makes sense, and those are some VERY intriguing names!!! Kinda like the way you're looking at this.
Listen, I'm all for making a trade for one of our "big names" for someone that truly makes us better. I've stated before that I'm not thinking that an easy fix trade is going to benefit us; anyone brought in needs to be someone who will have an impact down the road because we're not contending for the next couple of years. So, whilst I threw Eichle's name out there, it really doesn't make sense because we're not contending right now and chances are, considering his surgery (and what I know about what he wants done as I'm looking at it as well...) he'll stand a much greater chance of suffering another injury. SO IF we got him, he plays next year, jacks up his neack again, and we lose our collective butts on the deal.
Good call, Feds

I think an Eichel deal only makes sense for Detroit post draft lottery. Say DET has the 8th pick. Maybe 8th, Rasmussen, and Hronek makes sense. Who knows what will happen though. |

Leafs and Hawks blogs are really entertaining right now, not that I wish them any hardship. |

Who knows what will happen though. - Feds91Stammer Hopefully Jack has his surgery and is kicking ass at season's end and by draft time he is traded, but in a few short weeks that will not happen as he will miss the entire season. I don't think he gets the surgery of his choice unless he is traded for less than Adams current ask. He has a very limited trade market as of now, because a contender is not going to give pieces needed to stay very competitive as they will not get Eichel's services til ate season...maybe....So that leaves Anaheim, Detroit, Chicago and Montreal. Calgary, SJ and NYR are doing well right now and can't risk the absence of meaningful players for a gamble. I don't see Stevie doing this, but then maybe the thought of having a healthy Eichel and a possibility of a Shane Wright next year will overwhelm his usual sensible gambles......nay. |

I'm assuming he meant Kane without the 1st attached. |

And Kane would sell more tickets than Eichel ever could. But then Jack won't be in effectively in use til next season, maybe....... |

Volkov on waivers:For contract termination
He played 18 games with the Ducks, scoring four goals and eight points in 18 games, but didn’t make the roster this season. Should Stevie get him? He could wait til he clears and sign him for NHL minimum. Also Stevie drafted him. |
