The Hawks are 14th in the league in faceoff percentage, at 50.3%. Which shows how important faceoffs are. |

Hmmm, suppose it kind of helps when you get a 1st and 3rd rounder in successive drafts.
Just like Mike Smith and Stan, I thank Dale for his contributions but I think his legend as the Builder is more than a bit overstated.
Just like former players, let's not make a habit of bringing back former GM's. - HawkintheD
Why? You don’t approve of the work he’s done with the Panthers?

they mean something when the games are close.
If you’re losing every game by 3, nothing means much. |

Not what I’m asking, but thanks for once again misreading my intent and mansplaining it for me. He’s the boss and gets credit for the good and the bad.
What I am wondering about is how much of the talent spotting and roster construction expertise was his and how much was the people he hired? Has he taken more of that role on, himself, in the past few years or less? - pdx2ord
Simmer down, it was a shot at others on here, not you.
The mansplaining thing is garbage. I didn't know you needed special treatment. |

Didn't say that, but I did say it helps when you're consistently drafting at the top (Ekblad / 1st pick, Barkov / 2nd pick), Huberdeau /3rd pick).
I mean it hasn't helped the Oilers but other teams. |

the most recent former President is 75 - and wants to run again. The current president will be 80 next year. Is anyone particular happy with either of them?
Tallon was just 71.
How about getting someone with a normal-size prostate (or developing a woman for the job who hasn’t gone through menopause). |

In the Who Gives a Sh!t department, Zadarov scratched for the 3rd straight game tonight while Calgary is on to their 3rd victory in a row. Didn't take Suter long to figure out he's better in the press box than on the ice. Kudos to Stan for getting a 3rd round pick for him. - boilermaker100
And kudos to Stan for getting him to begin with. |

Not steaming, so don't need to simmer down
That was very much a 'what she is saying is..." response (definition of mansplaining whether you do it to a man or a woman)
Since it was a reply to my post with that "save you some time so you don't have to read this" type response, it would seem you were taking a shot at my post and lumping me in with the "Stan is all bad" crowd. However, will take your word for it that it wasn't that and we can go back to debating how to fix the Hawks. |

I really don't think this is simple minded. Colliton's scheme has always been questionable and what has he done as a coach to be given the benefit of the doubt? Nothing.
It's time to dump him and if Wirtz is smart he brings in Crawford on an interim basis and evaluates Bowman at seasons end. Giving him the ability to bring in another coach at this point is not wise.
Do I know who should replace Bowman...no I do not but suggesting that's a reason for keeping him when the Hawks have been subpar for 4 years is not thinking big picture. The Hawks made the playoffs once in 4 years and that one time was during a shortened season due to a pandemic. They tore up the rebuild to spend...what looks like at this time bad money...that is all on him. They are consistently outclassed by better teams...their D looks like 6 turnstiles...and they lack effort and fight. Enough. - NamedSources
terrific post
the more I watch other games- Hawks look slower & less together on all levels then almost the entire league
the game has passed by the team in charge in Chicago
Doug Armstrong in St. Louis has stayed current

That was meant in past tense. Poorly worded. Talking about his body of work for the time he was there. |

The Hawks tend to promote from within. I would guess Stan promotes a current front office person to the GM position. Unless, of course, there is a total housecleaning. |

Just like here, he had some hits and misses there. Biggest miss was the Bob contract. He was there for a long time and won nothing. |

He arrived there in 2011. Ten years. With lots of high draft picks. He even got fired during his time there. He also had some awful drafts in Chicago when he wasn't picking in the top three. |

He sure was. Vainisi was also fairly solid after Jim left. - kwolf68
Vainisi was actually the family accountant who set up their financial structure to avoid taxes when GSH passed on. The IRS went after the family for larger inheritance taxes and the IRS lost. I believe Michael made Vainisi the GM after Finks "left for the Cubs" ha ha because he wanted his own choice and a business man in charge?

I still have Drew Doughty blasting away at us nightmares in the 2014 Conference Finals every time we lost the draw in our end. |
