They won't be moved because playing the way they are right now nobody would pay $5.25M for each of them. - rpeters01
You could trade Kane for a year and a half at that salary, no problem. No sugar needed. |

I have a new marketing ploy for the Hawks, each game a fan gets the notepad and draws up plays, I nominate Dots to lead off, pun intended since baseball is part of the conversation today. |

Kevin Orie's claim to fame was his blatant error that was scored a "hit" vs Houston in 98 when Wood struck out 20.
Outside of that.....forgotten.
Patterson was good in 03 until he blew out his ACL....after that, never the same. All he did was K in huge at bats.
Exactly why I cant fall in love with prospects or picks until an organization shows they have a history of drafting guys that make long term impacts.....cubs scarred me for life as a sports fan..... - SteveRain

Plenty of teams will be interested in Kane. Toews is a liability at this point. Maybe a sucker like Holland would go for him. |

Hawks can do all they want with coaches and systems, but unless the goaltending also improves, this isn't going full turn things around. Right now, at even strength we have the worst SV% to go along with the worst shooting% for a dismal PDO of 0.878
Hawks are middle of the road on giving up scoring chances and better than average in terms of how many "high danger" chances they give up, but so many of them are beating our goalies. Fix the defensive issues, but man, need to get that timely save now and then too.

Nagy tests positive for COVID.
Hopefully he had dinner with Colliton last night.
Be something if they got their first win with JC on the shelf. |

If the reason Kane and Toews won’t be moved is strictly for attendance then we’re back to 1999 and Bill Wirtz. And we’re in for a long rebuild. All moves must be made to improve the team, not to get a few extra people into the the building or for sentimentality sake. - paulr
I think based on the lack of urgency to salvage this season already, it's fair to question if the EXACT same moves they made this summer weren't done to appease the fan base and keep that season ticket holder list renewed......
I get it's a combination of players and coaches....but how can you justify not having a coach at least on the hot seat and/or fired when you are 0-5-1...haven't led for 0:01 this season and have 1 OT loss, 1 by 2 goals, and 4 by at least 3 goals? Not like they are losing each game by 1.....they are being run out of the building during LONG stretches of time during these games.
I don't know who said it, but I think it's time to get a new set of eyes in hockey operations. Bowman has been there for 10+ years in his GM role and longer when you go back to assistant GM.....Put him in a higher role and bring in a fresh set of eyes.
The great news for us Americans....is at least Bowman can't higher JC for HC of Team America this winter......... |

Ditto...2003 was the final gut punch for me. Haven't really followed baseball much since if at all.
On your question, in terms of the bigger embarrassment, it's still the Bears and it's not even close.
Yes the last several Hawk seasons have been less than stellar and this year is just bad but failing to even at least adequately identify talent at the most important position in the sport for decades is embarrassing.
Getting owned by your division rival for three solid decades is an embarrassment.
The McCaskeys don't do anything else but football and they just aren't very good at it. |

Agreed on this....
I dont see anyone giving up a 1st or grade A prospects for Toews though. Which will be a deal breaker because fans will want a PREMIUM back for him not realizing the name doesn't warrant said asking price any longer. |

Currently Team Canada has Jon Cooper as head coach with Bruce Cassidy, Peter DeBoer and Barry Trotz as assistants. Always room for one more? |

I was done after 2008.....watched the playoffs in 2016 and it resonated a very small amount.....when they won.
Yeah, I agree on the Packers. For all the years the Cubs took crap for "always next year" the Bears are a joke. Everything the McCaskey's touch they break and they still haven't hit rock bottom yet...wait until those guaranteed dollars hit....they will be a perennial lottery team with a young team full of unknowns...that's what they get for betting on pace and nagy
Hawks....if this was still last year, my anger would be far less. i didn't have high hopes, but after the moves they made this summer and getting guys slotted where they could achieve to their best personal abilities.....I felt this was a bubble playoff team.
Boy I was dead wrong. They may not win a game until 11/1 vs Ottawa at home.....truly disgusting. |

I was of a similar opinion. I never expected this type of start and them getting run out of the building most nights.

What current Hawks Jerseys/shirts are around the rink now - other than 19-88?
Murphy? Kubalik?
Once 88 & 19 go...those people who just started following the Hawks in 2007, are in for a very rude awakening
Wirtz is always gonna Wirtz
What else did Rocky do other than hire McDonough who convinced him to put the games on TV in the 21st century?? Lol |
