I’m not trying to be a Richard here and still, I have to ask, is any of this a result of the division that the Leafs played in last year? A lot of folks disclaimed that as a “thing” last year, but I personally, which doesn’t account for much, didn’t think that the Scotia Bank division was any good.

In all honesty, if this team squeaks into the playoffs for some reason (I still think they'll finish top 5 in the league), they'll be that much more battle-hardened and ready for an upset.

Indeed some recent cup winners and finalists (STL, DAL) were bottom of league at half-time reg. season...

The team sucks. Simple as that. They’re one of the worst defensive teams in the league.
- Steven_Seagull

Funny how that never seems to be on Dubas' "Must Fix" agenda.

I just don't get why management never sees the stuff most of the fans see. I get it if we were wrong but we're usually not.

Marner and Rielly should've been traded this summer. Enough was enough. Rielly for a winger, Marner for a few assets, primarily a top 2 RD with snarl.

Now I want them to trade Matthews so I can have a new team to follow. It's getting hard being a Leafs fan for as long as I have....and it's a long (frank)ing time.

I'm over it...and trust me I'm a huge Leafs fan...or was. (frank) this team.

Once the puck gets in their zone there's nothing they can do about it. Even when they get to a puck first it's just turnover after turnover after turnover.
- BINGO!

Marner was real close to asking the refs if they could have a new puck cause Carolina was playing with the other one. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Muzzin was actually worse than Holl tonight (I watched about 2/3s of game)

Yes I agree, but having a bad game or two is much different than being put in a position that is way over your talent and ability.

(I apologize - not tech savvy)

A buddy of mine (godfather to my kids) is a hardcore die hard bleed blue guy. Never gives up. The phone call I just got and the text that followed was incredible. So angry man haha.
He absolutely loved Marner and then the ‘Marner + Daddy vs Leafs’ events took place. Instantly - Marner is dead to him.
The text included an Overdrive segment with ODog just laying into ALL of Dubas for being soft and Marner and his dad. Hilarious. I apologized earlier because I can’t link it up here. But the title of the segment is: ‘The OverDrive guys get fired up over Marner turning down deals | OverDrive

I couldn’t agree more with ODog. You make him the offer - he accepts that massive cash drop or you trade him. Done.

Justin Holl is the perfect example of the kind of poop you have to do to have a hockey team when you pay a guy like Mitch Marner 11 (frank)ing million dollars a season. 😭

I really hope that these bullpoop quotes he gives are just for the media and behind closed doors he's ripping them a new bumhole. But I doubt it unfortunately

I think he's just trying to get the media off of these guys asses. Because the media never helps before you even factor in how fragile a guy like Marner is vs how critical he is to the teams success.

It's really telling that the organization seems consistently concerned with how Mitch handles outside pressure and trying to shield him from it.

Don't know of anyone else that gets as much protection or excuses made for him as he does.

You think he actually believes he poop he spews to the media? Unlikely.

Also, all coaches say similar stupid lines. I wouldn't read into any of it.

Habs too. Even Ottawa was scary to play against in the stretch drive.

This is a (frank)ing hard league to play in. The parity is insane.

And the playoffs are like an entirely different league after a slog of a season to begin with, so what do you do you? Load up on talent so you can score your way into home ice advantage?

Well, those guys get the poop beaten out of them in the playoffs where the already terrible officiating gets even comically worse.

I couldn't imagine being a head coach or GM; it's such a crapshoot, no matter how well you think you've got it figured out.

I found there was a larger disparity between the top teams and the bottom teams in other divisions last year.

You had buffalo, anaheim, kings, detroit, sharks to name a few all in other divisions.
