I found there was a larger disparity between the top teams and the bottom teams in other divisions last year.

You had buffalo, anaheim, kings, detroit, sharks to name a few all in other divisions.

- Aaron_85

Yeah the disparity was larger in other divisions, but that's more because top teams in those divisions were still a higher tier than any of the teams in the Canadian one. Toronto was the only one I would have pegged as in the top 8 teams in the league.

Do you think Gretzky would accept Shanahans job? šŸ¤”

Yup for sure, he'd move Mikheyev to GM and Dermott to coach too. šŸ™„

What makes you think heā€™d be any better?

What makes people think all these ex meat head players are the only ones that should get to run teams??

Guys what the (frank)?

Marner was useless except for getting completely walked.

Matthews non existent without the puck. Dude got cleanly beat by Aho at least a couple times.

The defense as a whole is just awful. They're way too deep in their own heads and the longer it takes to get out of there the worse this is going to get.

- BINGO!

for a second there I thought you were talking about the habs

(I apologize - not tech savvy)

A buddy of mine (godfather to my kids) is a hardcore die hard bleed blue guy. Never gives up. The phone call I just got and the text that followed was incredible. So angry man haha.
He absolutely loved Marner and then the ā€˜Marner + Daddy vs Leafsā€™ events took place. Instantly - Marner is dead to him.
The text included an Overdrive segment with ODog just laying into ALL of Dubas for being soft and Marner and his dad. Hilarious. I apologized earlier because I canā€™t link it up here. But the title of the segment is: ā€˜The OverDrive guys get fired up over Marner turning down deals | OverDrive

I couldnā€™t agree more with ODog. You make him the offer - he accepts that massive cash drop or you trade him. Done.

1 team plays hockey with and without the puck the other doesnā€™t. Those 2 teams are not even in the same league, this isnā€™t new. Canes been the better team for a few years.

Nah. Playoffs aren't a good measuring stick of where your team is at, really.

So they were good the year before. Not S tier but they were good. I expect the same result this year overall.

It's 7 games. I will worry at 20 games like every other year we give a team to figure themselves out.

Ex meatheads? Yikes bud. Thatā€™s one odd thing to say. So because a guy played in the league heā€™s a meathead? An ex professional player couldnā€™t possibly have the high level understanding of the game necessary to create a good team as say, a guy who couldnā€™t even play Jr hockey? In order to run successful teams you need a University degree or be well versed in analytics? You canā€™t just know and understand the game and hire a numbers cruncher for salaries and cap issues?
My nephew graduated with a business degree from the Ivy School at Western and he absolutely loves puck. Was never good and didnā€™t play at a high level but loves the game - next GM of the Leafs?

Sorry?
I donā€™t think people watch the show for Socio/political commentary or help with investing. I think they tune in to watch/listen hockey folks talk hockey.
2 ex Pro Players and a host who was a pretty decent player himself (at least a Jr player).

Whatā€™s with all the comments about players intelligence? You know they play hockey professionally and get paid to play hockey right? Iā€™m a weird twist - the lack of intelligence might just be commenting on the intellect of ex professional hockey player on the subject ofā€¦ā€¦.Professional Hockey.?

Iā€™m not trying to be a Richard here and still, I have to ask, is any of this a result of the division that the Leafs played in last year? A lot of folks disclaimed that as a ā€œthingā€ last year, but I personally, which doesnā€™t account for much, didnā€™t think that the Scotia Bank division was any good.

Yeah letā€™s throw that narrative out the window.

The post game media scrum is crap. You see doing exactly what he wants you to do by putting some heat on him and off the players.

Itā€™s pretty obvious the Leafs have zero confidence right now and itā€™s obvious Keefe is trying to take as much pressure off them as he can.

Colorado, TB, Vegas, Toronto all suck and will all miss the playoff. Yeah, we get it.
- Canada Cup

Those other teams have all earned a break from fans, or the benefit of the doubt. They win a round or two, go to conference finals, or the cup itself. You are just stroking Marner at this point with that comment. Edmonton finished like dog poop last season, do you think they let it carry over? No. They are playing like their lives depend on it.

Finally the leafs arent able to hide their weaknesses behind scoring, for so long so many fans looked the other way when it came to the leafs issues because they scored a bunch of goals.
Now that the other teams have figured the leafs out, (mainly because keefe doesnt change much up) those same fans are starting to jump off a cliff.

Still early
Go Leafs go.

(although we did see what early season losses did for the Jays)

But still early.

They're set up nicely for another milestone on Wednesday. Chicago hasn't had a lead all season. When do we think they break that streak? 2 minutes into the first?
