Hows deangelo working out? Is he feeling at home in north carolina? - TheMussel
he's fine. Keeping his mouth shut which is the biggest thing for him right now. Defensively pretty "meh" but he's probably the most dynamic offensive defenseman we've had in a while.
Also I'm sure he's found a kl... er.. clan to run with.

Good pick up at $1Million cap hit IMO, Svechnikov playing well. I just know the Canes are going to pull off a cap cheat like the Bolts, Gardiner will sit out the entire season and be ready for the first shift of the playoffs.

Gardiner almost literally couldn't skate anymore the last time we saw him. Every time he gets healthy enough to get in the lineup he just gets crushed in the corner because he can't move his feet the way he used to. He can't dodge forecheckers. He can't walk the blueline on the powerplay. He's done.
Leafs lines this morning
Bunting Matthews Nylander
Kerfoot JT Marner
Engvall Kampf Kase
Ritchie Spezza Simmons - Canada Cup
Good moves I think. Ritchie - gotta earn your way back up. JT and Marner were so good in that brief stint that AM was out last year. Maybe they get some jump together.

No clue why CAR signed him long term.
The shape his back was in in the playoffs as a Leaf most knew his career could be almost over.

Agree on the moves
JT has been ok, no better, Marner has been putrid so far, I also hope he plays better. The shaming and pressure on Marner from Leaf Nation has been relentless, hasn't worked so far.

Should have only been offered a 1 year. - Santo_44
Probably what was necessary to get him signed. He wanted stability. One thing Dundon has been willing to do is roll the dice on higher-risk players if the potential pay-off is big enough.
End of the day they just turned an injured Calvin De Haan into an injured Jake Gardiner.

Last year, they scored first a lot of games. This year, they are behind in every game, I believe. - bixll
I may be misremembering (possibly maybe) but I recall the Leafs last year came out of the gate flat a number of times before eventually taking control after the lines had cycled through a few times.
Would be fun to see them flying after the first puck is dropped.
