The Leafs were outplayed, outworked, and the second best team on the ice. - PatC80
Agree, but you missed outcoached. Andersen had an easy time of it for sure. Surrenders a goal and then Leafs decide that the possession stats are more important than shooting the (frank)en puck.

I didn't actually watch the game, as my daughter was on the ice (thank you!).
So just for fun, I challenge everyone to describe to me the Leafs' game last night in one sentence.
Go! - Atomic Wedgie
Their "efforts" only led to hurt, sometimes in sad ways and sometimes in comical ones. |

The game itself? Decent.
The leafs themselves? Insignificant.

Your daughter would have been moved onto the Leaf’s second line - Canada Cup
That's not nice, CC. I'm sure Wedgie's daughter puts forth an effort while on the ice which locks her into a bottom 6 role on this team. |

I have to confess that I haven't watched many games this year. A lot of that has been circumstance - my daughters' own games, other stuff - but for sure some of it has been apathy.
But my general (feel free to correct me if I am wrong) impression is that nobody is willing to go to the greasy areas - especially in front - to pay the price to get the goal.
Teams are more than happy to give up the perimeter to this team - let Mitchy do laps in the offensive zone in the offensive zone. |

They brought in Ayres because it's the first time they've played the Leafs since THAT game. |

Sure, it should have been stopped.. The real question is why did Dermott shoot right at the shins of the oncoming Carolina forward?
That's not how to play a puck possession game, Dermott made a huge mistake - PatC80
I was asking myself why was that pair of Sandin and Dermott were out with the Matthews line. |

I can't even tell if you're joking. Because the Hurricanes really have accepted that "bunch of jerks" tag and have done a real good job with it.
If you're not kidding, that's actually pretty (frank)ing funny. |

Disagree on both, poop game.
Leafs are significant, could say they are a poop team however the fact is that Carolina is insignificant and lost $15Million last year according to Forbes. Their payroll and expenses are subsidized by significant teams such as the Leafs who actually have revenue and whose value is actually greater than the ante that Seattle just paid.

I don't think they were out coached..
No matter how many times Keefe tells Marner to shoot, if Marner still doesn't shoot then that's on him not on Keefe. |

If the heat maps of shots mean anything, Leafs are getting lots of shots from high danger areas. Pittsburgh was certainly an exception. |

no, not in Carolina.. In Toronto, Mitch only seems the have the opportunity to shoot the puck at the exact same moment the fans are digging into their sushi platters.
Mitch's timing sucks |

Not kidding. Somebody asked Andersen how it felt being on the other side now and he just said "Too soon." |

Are they really High danger chances though? Matthews second attempt at a wraparound would not beat a Junior B goalie.. |

Your assessment is accurate, I could be wrong, but instead of skating laps as you say, and to single out a few that do this, Marner, Engvall and Rielly - they seem to skate miles without getting a shot on net. Marner seems to get more shots on goal during SH situations than on the powerplay. To me its on the coach to say, this is how we are going to do it moving forward. Get it in, get to the net and shoot the (frank)en puck. If you don't ride the (frank)en pines.
