I don't think they were out coached..

No matter how many times Keefe tells Marner to shoot, if Marner still doesn't shoot then that's on him not on Keefe.

- PatC80

wait... I need clarification here...

buy "shoot" do you mean turn the puck over near the blueline leading to a odd-man rush against the Leafs?...

'cause if that's what you are talking about Mitchie is doing great!

seriously, watching this young kid completely lose his enthusiasm or mojo or whatever is kind of pathetic... he used to grab the puck and excelerate up ice and back the defense off 9 out of 10 times... now there's a leisurely pace...

I can just imagine Babcock sitting in his armchair, not laughing but just shaking his head.

Coach decides ice time, if he skates around without shooting reduce his ice time to 8 minutes a game. He might get it eventually. It's totally on the coach.

Hey Cush: just wanted to add that if you look closely at Mister Brown's avatar, it's a pre-Nazi German flag, widely associated with neo-Nazi groups (it's their "clever" way of avoiding detection by not flying the Nazi flag).

I'm happy to provide you with further details (you'd have to send me the avatar), if this would help get him banned forever.

I don't know what it is either, but he looks broken doesn't he?
Freidman was saying he thinks the Leafs All or Nothing docu-series affected Marner a lot.. Fans got to see Dubas talk to Mitch about being better and playing better before game 7 and he was still a no-show in that game.

I have to confess that I haven't watched many games this year. A lot of that has been circumstance - my daughters' own games, other stuff - but for sure some of it has been apathy.

But my general (feel free to correct me if I am wrong) impression is that nobody is willing to go to the greasy areas - especially in front - to pay the price to get the goal.

Teams are more than happy to give up the perimeter to this team - let Mitchy do laps in the offensive zone in the offensive zone.

- Atomic Wedgie

Bunting and Richie have been going to that spot.

Are they really High danger chances though? Matthews second attempt at a wraparound would not beat a Junior B goalie..

Natural Stat Trick tracks shots and plots where they’re taken from. Here’s a random one

great idea... but need to do it similar to one of the pre-season polls... where everyone who's interested puts in their "top 20 stupid things that are likely to happen"

and you know already that Dubas will be dealing the 1st... in a last ditch effort to save his own ass... sounds a lot like JFJ.

that's where the challenge lies, the Leafs need Mitch on the ice not on the bench.. We know what he is capable of offensively. Leafs are good when Mitch and Auston are rolling..

Maybe Keefe should bench both for a game, and hopefully that works, but I don't think it will.. They seem like the type of players that won't respond well to benchings.

Have the fans tried yelling "SHOOOOOOOT" when he has the puck?
- Scabeh

I do it all the time.

I guess it's hard for them to hear me trough the TV.

I know my neighbors hear me.

Not a challenge, up to the coach to teach and to coax the max out of his players, no one can convince me he has done this.

its pretty clear that the inmates are running the Asylum... but at very least Keefe cannot simply run that same completely ineffective powerplay out on the ice - on the powerplay they have to simplify. Get Simmonds/Ritchie in front of the net, put which ever defenseman not name Rielly or Sandin on the ice who can take a slap shot and pound away.

Hey all you leafs fans that are also parents.
Are you raising your children to be leafs fans?
Or should I just get my 6 month old a kraken jersey, I'd hate to throw him into the life of being a leaf fan. By next season he will be ready to start watching hockey, and I don't see this team ever figuring poop out. It's a real pickle, to encourage or to dissuade from being a Leafs fan.

Prepare him for real life. Buy him a Marner jersey and teach him to read here. He’ll be fine.

They brought in Ayres because it's the first time they've played the Leafs since THAT game.
- BINGO!

I wonder if Ayres still works for MLSE, and if so, did he have their blessing to do this?

Yeah, I'm a grumpy old man wearing a cardigan yelling at the neighbourhood kids, but I think the Hurricanes have gone from funny and lighthearted to downright classless.

Power play has been brutal, especially the first unit. It is actually shocking to see the 2nd unit with Spezza actually being more effective than the first unit. Marner is an excellent player, he's terrible on the PP and has been for some time.

If you live in Toronto, raise them to be Leafs fans.

If you don't live in Toronto, don't be franking cruel to your kids. This franking team is cursed.

it is a challenge, if he benches one or both then he needs to know how to deal with the mental/emotional side of it. More and more it sounds to be Marner needs to be managed sensitively..

I don't think this is a coaching or GM issue.. I get that it's easier to blame 1 person than it is to blame 22 players, but I don't buy that Keefe is coaching, or teaching these guys to start slow, or to play uninspired hockey.

It's on the players to get excited to play in the National Hockey League..
