At this point, over 58,000 are dead in Florida where there are no restrictions and a variant os killing people of a much wider age and health population. I dont agree with all of the restrictions and methods, but it seems erring on the side of caution is fairly pragmatic. Again, this is my opinion.

They are the 8th worst state as far as deaths per 100k.....and yes it definitely goes wild in highly populated areas.

The mandate is coercion to force vaccine coverage. I don't agree with that. It isn't the employer making that decision it is the the threats against them if they don't.

"Threats" is a loaded term. These are health orders. Just because you disagree does not make them threats.

Are other health ordinances threats?

Threats are fines and shutting down your business if you don't comply.... what would you call that.

In particular, left unchecked it seems. Soft responses is the comminality between high death rate areas. Nowhere in the US is the daily rate higher than Florida right now

Was going to mention yesterday that your boy Burroughs had a rough go of it. He’s been a pleasant surprise so I hope he’s not cooling off.

His partner left him exposed quite a bit yesterday.

I look at it this way everyone has a bad game now and then. He is a good third pairing guy and extending him two or three years at 1.1 to 1.2 mil per makes sense. If he is sent down it has very little effect on the Cap.

The rumour I have heard is that about 10% of employees have called in to say they are going to quit if mandated to get the vaccine. My company seems to be taking their time coming out with a policy.

I also heard that people won't be fired over being unvaccinated, they will be placed on unpaid leave of absence. No severance and pension lost, if they leave on their own.

It’s become a condition of employment for us which really doesn’t affect many. Probably around 5%. I heard a group in another terminal hired a lawyer and all but that’s going to be a tough battle considering we’re federally regulated.

Keep those health inspectors out of my restaurant, they violate my freedoms.

Fair. I respect that is your opinion. It has been stated that restaurants are not actually a huge place of transmission and that the passport requirement is more so to increase vaccine coverage. Using this against the restaurant community has really put their backs against the wall.

I remember a time when some folks cried about being forced to wear a seatbelt or be heavily fined. They got over it.

I remember a time when some folks cried about being forced to not smoke in public spaces. They got over it.

Coercive policies and laws are tough to accept (for some) but ethically justified. That’s the compromise one has to make to live in a progressive society where we emphasize the needs of the community above those of the individual.

Based on restrictions you would think Florida, Texas and Arizona would be the highest. They are definitely high up the list though.

He would have bragging rights. Tavares has his second goal tonight Petey still has one.

You can get shut down for any number of health and safety violations. Are all of those also threats?

I'm just saying that it's charged language to call this a "threat" when it is another health/safety requirement. It is just a severe one. You can argue that it is overreach but it's disingenuous to say that it is a "threat" when other health and safety requirements aren't.

Could save a lot of money by cutting down on sanitizer chemicals in dishwashers and other cleaning solutions, fewer fridges/freezers, labour hours for people cleaning. Think how cheap the prices could be.

I'm over 40 and remember being a kid in BC elementary schools and having to bring in my immunization card (basically a passport) at the beginning of every school year. I guess we were being conditioned early.

Just looking at the US CDC site and this is their list of the 10 greatest public health achievements from 1900 -1999:

Vaccination
Motor-vehicle safety
Safer workplaces
Control of infectious diseases
Decline in deaths from coronary heart disease and stroke
Safer and healthier foods
Healthier mothers and babies
Family planning
Fluoridation of drinking water
Recognition of tobacco use as a health hazard

Most of those changes caused some folks to moan about loss of freedoms, but in the end you can’t argue about the beneficial results.
