Look at the (frank)ed up statements made by Toews and Tippett, among others. Look at how not a single one of the mainstream reporters for the major networks bothered touching the story until this week. Not to mention Bowman being replaced by USA Hockey with Bill Geurin who has an open investigation regarding him covering up sexual abuse. It's a problem that permeates the NHL, there's no 2 ways about it.

I'm not saying hockey is evil. I'm saying the NHL has some deep rooted culture problems.

So does every other major league sport of some sort, whether it's win at all costs including looking the other way when players do PEDs (Baseball) or play through multiple concussions until their brain is mush (Football) or the use of shoe and apparel companies to heavy recruit the best players to play in LA or NY or Miami with the promise of endorsements that heavily dwarf their SPC (max or not) with the teams (Basketball). Hockey isn't unique with that, and if you look deep enough, you'd find the same culture problems with sex abuse in other sports.

See, you're kinda missing my point. It's a problem that doesn't just permeate through the NHL. It's a social problem. A few bad apples are the ones that brought the microscope onto the issue within the NHL. But it's there among all of us in every faction of life.

Most of us are lucky enough to avoid it, some haven't, but guaranteed we all know survivors. Most of which aren't famous enough to be publicized. To focus on the NHL and one organization's mishandling of it is to diminish the issue in my eyes. As mentioned in my earlier post, not only that but it diminishes the good work done, past and present, by the majority to push things in the right direction culturally both in sport and society.
