So Hamonic is reporting to Abby?
Not bad timing if Poolman is out.

I wonder if Green will sit the Bone after tonight.

- dbot

Gonna take Hammyboy a long time to get up to speed I think. Maybe they'll recall someone from Abby while he's there so he can get some playing time?

I wonder how much influence Shaw has over the group/coaching decisions...

The #Canucks look like they’ve tweaked their system this season to implement a more conservative forecheck.

That’s helped them significantly cut down on the odd man rushes against but the cost is they can’t generate offensively at 5-on-5 w/o their old, aggressive forecheck

Still relying on Demko to bail them out a ton

they were broken up 2 minutes into the first. Podz played 6 minutes. Green is honestly one of the worst coaches in the league.

Green had last change last night and still couldn't handle the line matchups...

Well done Green!!

Petey Boeser and Hughes have one goal each after 7 games but Green thinks Pods is the problem

Individual talent isn't doing it's things to keep the team afloat anymore.

Almost if Dayal thinks the Canucks used to generate offence. They have been one of the worst 5v5 teams since Green took up position behind the bench.

I mean, those ideas aren't opposites. They could score a lot more but also give up a lot more, and thus be a terrible 5v5 team.

Just think he meant they used to (when the system "worked") create a lot of offense/opportunities from turnovers off their 2 high forecheck. That's not the case now, and they're creating even less opportunities 5v5 but also giving up less odd man rushes.

Again, forecheck, turnovers and chances mean nothing if you're being consistantly hemmed into your own end and unable to transition to offense because you're so tired that all you can do is shoot the puck down into the corner and change and then do it all over again.

I mean, yes? Not sure how that really relates to what I wrote/we were talking about

I don't think anyone is a fan of Green and his "systems" on here.

System just never really works. Even when the Canucks win, they are still outplayed at 5v5 terribly. Out chanced in just about every game.

Courtesy of Natural stat trick (scoring chances for and against)
28-17 for Oilers
23-18 for Canucks over Flyers
19-14 for Canucks over Wings
22-13 for Sabres
25-15 for Blackhawks
25-9 for Kraken
25-16 for Wild.

It looks the same as last seasons

I'm not disagreeing at all, I think their system sucks and they rely way too heavily on elite goaltending. There is a difference though between scoring chances and odd-man rushes, as to what Dayal was referring. Are there stats on how many odd-man rushes the Canucks have given up per game this year to last?

Canucks aren't pressing as many forward on their forecheck to limit the odd man rushes against them, though they still suck at/the D and can't cover poop in their own end.

A. Myers that tall goof sucks.
B. Green's a crappy coach.
C. Miller isn't a center, and he's mean.
D. Pouty needs to wake up and earn his money.
E. Our defence is too small, less little people on d.
F. Chaisson shouldn't be playing, there's better options.
G. Benning only fixed his past mistakes.
H. Demko not playing like Bubbles
I. We had a 6 game road trip to start the year.
J. We've had to sit through 5 home opening celebrations.
K. There were no peanuts on the plane.
L. Poor Podz getting treated poorly even after scoring a goal.
M. Our power play still stands around instead of moving.
N. Our leading point player has to watch from the bench when the goalies pulled.
O. We lost all our toughness on the waiver wire.
P. No fair we're getting injuries.
Q. Our 2 best players missed training camp and aren't ready yet.
R. Why did the trade Joe Levy when Bone is waiver exempt.
S. Hamonic holds out, fuk him, Hamonic reporting to Abby, hurray!
T. Our top point producers aren't producing.
U. Why hasn't Benning estended Burroughs? Stupid Benning.
V. We need 3 scoring lines, why can't Green see this?
W. Horvat is a wussy captain he needs to drop the gloves more.
X. Why is Pearson still on Bo's wing and not Hoganator?
Y. We're still paying for Luongo, it's Betmans fault.
Z. Gudbranson has more points than OEL, that's not fair

You can't script this sh!t?

I’m not defending Green in any way, but Drance noted that the Canucks analytics team is robust, that Green does pay attention to data and that the commercially available stats sites can produce results that are a little peanut butter and jelly compared to what their internal numbers suggest.

The specific example he used was “expected goals”, saying that when asked about it Green suggested the actual number of high danger scoring chances was lower than what the commercially available stats sites suggested.

There could be some truth to that.

He's clearly inspired this morning. Let the lad burn off some pent up energy. It's been a while since the Flames were still relevant 2 weeks into the season.
