If I'm 6'3 230 I'm still not scared of a guy 5'6 130, even if he has the nicest souvenir bat of all time. And I'm certainly not letting him suck me off or dry hump me over it - TheGame316
Was Beach secure with his spot on the team? Did Aldrich manipulate him and others telling black aces he had a direct line to Q about impacting their careers?
Easy to say behind a keyboard you aren't going to tolerate it when you worked your entire life to become a NHL player and are still on the outside looking in.....
So the blame is on Beach? Got it..... |

Doesn't matter, McDonough should of gone to HR (as per company policy), and then an investigation to uncover the true facts. He not only failed Beach, but he failed the Wirtz Corp. - LAHawk
OK, but given the story that Gary told the rest of the guys, it hardly sounds like a 5 alarm fire. They had a greaseball video guy who's trying to hookup with players, or "Get into the sheets". Seems later on that they also that they heard the part about the unnamed womans involvement, like it may have been a "3some gone sideways" Apparently it was widely known that Aldrich was gay and even in the 2010 climate they probably wouldn't want to act rashly given if they were wrong they'd get a "I was fired because I was they found out I was gay" accusation
So, yeah, they didn't go to HR. But they also seemed to have not known about the full scope of Beach's accusation either

I'm of the belief that by pushing them to resign rather than be fired, the club is released from having to pay out the remainder of their contracts. Would have to see the actual contract to be sure, but it seems in the NHL, if you are fired, you're still owed the remaining money, but if you resign/retire, you are not? - pdx2ord
That is generally true in business, but don't know what a standard NHL contract includes. Plus if you resign, you can't come back against the Company for wrongful termination.

You're the one hat claimed the bat was some sort of mitigating factor, when it wasn't
Beach has a hell of an inconsistent story that people and media seem way too cowardly to call him out on or question. It's all in the report
Aldrich can be a dirtball and Beach can be lying about the sequence of events. These 2 things are not mutually exclusive

How about Q's review, he is fantastic at what he does, but he should not work around other people (paraphrasing, not exact language for the non-nuanced). Isn't the job description of a video coach includes going over video with player's, hence how could he be good at his job? - LAHawk
Beach seemed very angry at Quenneville during his interview and I get that part of it.....and IMO...no Sopel an Boynton don't become some great people for admitting this 11+ years later and getting out in front of it, when they didn't say a damn thing about it back then.......I also believe Boynton married Jen-jen the radio personality at the time....think she didn't catch wind? Of course she did...so this media fabrication of not knowing....not buying it.... |

There is usually some kind of "agreement" regarding some sort of buyout when there is a voluntary "resignation"
If they fired Q for some sort of standards clause and tried not to pay him then he'd have the right to sue and this mess continues. If they straight up fire him he gets the rest of his contract just like if he was fired for poor performance
They probably negotiated some sort of compromise and Q "resigned"

Sorry...too much smoke around Aldrich to pretend Beach is fluffing this for $$$....
Intern getting his crotch grabbed in a cab and being asked 3 times to go upstairs
Young highschool kid and Aldrich being convicted AND going to jail
Black Ace 1....who I hope is in some sort of care because he's so rattled he can't even address it and thank god his confidant did.....
This is a pattern....this is/was a predator. They are DAMN LUCKY only Beach went after them....that intern and black ace 1 likely have cases as well. |

Quenville would have been his day to day contract with Hawks organization. You can't rule out that he perhaps harbours other ill will towards Q. Quenneville could have been particularly hard and critical of him in practice, Beach could blame Q as the reason he "never got his shot", other lesser coaches tend to use the Head Coach as a scapegoat when they criticize players performance "Q says you need to skate harder, Q says you need to watch your weight, Q says this, Q says that"
Beach needs to remember that he never actually told any of these guys this personally. He went through a "Go-Between" (Jim Gary) who according to the report either left out the actual details, or Beach wasn't totally forthcoming with Gary and Gary told them what he knew
Keep in mind, even during this investigation, Beach was inconsistent with his details, especially contradictory stories regarding the unnamed woman (which I believe was done on purpose with Beach thinking that she would never be found a decade later)

Beach seems to believe that Q had multiple meetings regarding the situation after that initial meeting in McD's office. Not sure how he knows what the subject of the meetings were unless Gary or someone told him. I can understand that a player would look first to the coach (who happened to be the boss of the person who did this to you) as their primary protector and when that didn't happen, that's where your ire would fall.
Boynton did do the right thing at the time by bringing what he knew to Vincent.
Sopel sounds like he knew something, too, but didn't do anything beyond that. He has struck me throughout as someone who wants to insert himself into the story for attention and the kudos for being a "good guy." The article focused on his involvement talked a lot about the new business he's trying to get off the ground. I hope it's not that, but every big case has those people.
I don't know what either's motivation is for throwing the rest of their teammates under the bus and trying to paint themselves as better than the rest.
Neither the report found nor has Beach said that everyone definitely knew - in Beach's case, just that he believes/feels like everyone knew based on things some were saying to him. As I said in an earlier post, when this happens to you, it can feel that way and that everything being said or whispered is about you and what happened to you. Sopel and Boynton now saying everyone knew then could also "create" a memory of that time that wasn't there.
Not sure we will ever know who knew what, when and who did what to and for Beach at the time. We know Beach is grateful for what Sopel and Boynton have done for him during the case. Hoping some of it will come out and clear at least a few names we've been cheering on for years. Hope that some of his teammates get a chance to talk to Kyle and apologize, ESPECIALLY any who participated in the taunting.

As stated, Aldrich can still be a greasy dirtball regardless. He can be guilty of other incidents both before and after this situation
But Beach has some MASSIVE holes and omissions in his story that people and media are too cowardly to question

Worth remembering, too, that Gary was a wholly unprofessional, immature, douchebag himself. How much of what he was told was actually presented in a serious manner to the crew in McD's office.

Whatever you want to pick apart in Beach's testimony, obviously the investigators (hired by the Blackhawks) feel there is enough evidence that the Hawks (through it's employees and maybe Corporate execs) were covering up an assault. If the investigator's didn't believe Beach, or others that they interviewed, then the report would of been different, and nobody would have resigned. |

THIS
If this was portrayed to Management as not a big deal and McD said he was going to handle it, Can you really blame guys like Chevy for hearing about it and shrugging it off and leaving it in the hands of their bosses? Especially given Aldrich was gone a few weeks later?

The investigators did not come to a conclusion
They just did the investigation and compiled the testimony and info
It's the media that is trying this case and coming to their "conclusions"

Beach said media knew
Not one media member is asking which one
All had great coverage and access from McD all those years.
None are hunting down McD for answers
They all knew and are now attacking the leftover players under the guise "everyone knew"....but the media - running cover for themselves and McD/Aldrich. Why? - PatShart
You sir, are also a conspiracy theorist. |

in the end, it is all about money and should really be about preventing this situation from happening, and if it does happen, what are the steps to handle it. Instead, lets hang everyone. Ouch. And this is why there is a strong emphasis on no company relationships, just see the crazy situation with Theranos: Here is an excerpt from the sun times back in July 2021 commenting on the lawsuits:::::
Disturbing new details about former Blackhawks video coach Bradley Aldrich’s alleged sexual assault of an anonymous former Hawks player in May 2010 have come to light.
Amended versions of two lawsuits against the Hawks were filed Thursday and obtained by the Sun-Times. The first amended lawsuit claims Aldrich forced the Hawks player, identified as “John Doe 1,” to have nonconsensual sex — a specification that was previously unclear.
The lawsuit alleges Aldrich invited Doe 1 to his apartment “under the premise that Aldrich would go over game clips” with him. Upon Doe 1’s arrival, however, Aldrich allegedly turned on pornography and began to masturbate in front of Doe 1.
When Doe 1 tried to leave the apartment, Aldrich allegedly “blocked the only exit” and “physically threatened” Doe 1 with a souvenir Cubs baseball bat, telling him he would “never play in the NHL . . . if [he] did not engage in nonconsensual sexual activity with Aldrich at that time,” according to the lawsuit.

Plenty of blame to go around in Blackhawks’ scandal, including some for silent teammates
2010 Blackhawks players widely knew of Bradley Aldrich’s alleged sexual assault: report
With Doe 1 left “paralyzed in fear,” Aldrich then allegedly “exposed himself” to him, “forcibly touch[ed]” him, performed other “lewd and lascivious” acts and finally “ejaculated on” him, according to the lawsuit.
Hawks skills coach James Gary later convinced Doe 1 he was responsible for the incident, according to the lawsuit, even as Aldrich allegedly continued to “send harassing texts” to Doe 1 asking him to “come over.”
Another skills coach, Paul Vincent, allegedly told a group of Hawks executives — including then-president John McDonough and current general manager Stan Bowman — about the incident on May 17, 2010, but the executive group allegedly refused to notify police. The Hawks claimed in a motion to dismiss earlier this month that they had no “statutory duty” to report the incident because Doe 1 was not a minor, not disabled and not in a care facility.
Bowman spoke publicly Thursday for the first time since the original lawsuits were filed, but before the amended lawsuits were filed.
Bowman said he does “not condone or tolerate harassment or assault of any type” but won’t talk extensively about the allegations until an investigation currently being conducted by Chicago law firm Jenner & Block into the matter concludes.
“We need to give the experts [investigating this] the necessary time and the latitude to do their job well,” he said. “I am eager to speak about this in more detail in the future, but for now I have to respect the pending litigation and the independent review that’s underway. I’m not going to be able to make any comments about that at this time. We have to let the process play itself out.”
Bowman said he will give the investigation his “full cooperation” but dodged the subject of whether the investigation’s findings will be made public, a clarification the Hawks and NHL have repeatedly avoided providing over the past month.
Other upper-level executives and coaches who were employed by the Hawks in 2010 but now work for other teams — including Panthers coach Joel Quenneville, Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff and Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin — have denied knowledge of Aldrich’s alleged assault but said they will participate in the investigation.
Also filed Thursday was a response to the Hawks’ motion to dismiss the Doe 1 lawsuit and an amended version of the second lawsuit filed by “John Doe 2” — the 16-year-old Michigan high school student whom Aldrich confessed to sexually assaulting in 2013.
The Doe 1 motion-to-dismiss response argues that Doe 1’s claims are not preempted by other legal resolution methods, as the Hawks had argued, and that the statute of limitations has not expired because a “question of fact exists as to when [Doe 1] was injured — at the time of the assault or at the time [in July 2019 when] he realized the source of his misery.”
The primary change in the amended Doe 2 lawsuit is a new allegation that the Hawks provided a “positive review and/or employment verification” of Aldrich specifically to Houghton High School, where Doe 2 was a student and Aldrich worked as a volunteer coach. That’s intended to refute the Hawks’ motion to dismiss that case, which called the lack of allegation of a reference specifically to Houghton High a “fatal omission.”
The Hawks did not respond to a request for comment after Thursday’s new filings.
The amended Doe 1 lawsuit provides further context about what happened before and after the alleged May 2010 incident in addition to the new info about the incident itself.
Beforehand, in April and May 2010, Aldrich “repeatedly invited young interns” working for the Hawks “to his private apartment” to “watch various sporting events,” according to the lawsuit. Hawks management and coaches were allegedly “aware of this behavior and believed it to be quite unusual,” but did nothing about it.
Afterward, Aldrich left the Hawks after the 2010 Stanley Cup championship parade, as previously reported. He briefly worked in 2012 as an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio) University, and two allegations of Aldrich forcing unwanted sexual contact there have also surfaced this summer; the university is conducting an investigation into his tenure there.
Meanwhile, Doe 1 was allegedly subject to homophobic and “humiliating trash talking” relating to the incident for years at hockey practices and scrimmages at which Hawks-employed coaches were present, according to the lawsuit.
The team “permitted its players to repeatedly harass [Doe 1]” by calling him slur words and asking if he wanted to engage in oral sex, according to the lawsuit.
