I'm sure he knew the options but may have felt that none were viable because of the power the perpetrator had over him, his career, and his future life.

It's simple in hindsight. I'm sure he'd like to go back in time and handle the whole situation differently. From that interview you can see how terrible he feels about how he handled things and how much guilt he feels about the 16 year old that was assaulted too.

We both know he had options. All I'm saying is that Beach didn't feel like he did.
- Dkos

I see if differently is all. He chose to chase his NHL dream. That was the option he took.

What more could he have done, tho? He reported it up the chain immediately, which was 100% the right thing to do. After that, what other options were there if he wanted to preserve his career prospects?

One only needs to look at Akim Aliu to understand the cost of standing up for yourself in the hockey world. Guy refused to be hazed and he got branded as a malcontent. Managers, coaches and fellow players never treated him the same after that. His career was over before it even began. And that's not even getting into all the racist poop that happened to him over the years.

This hindsight should not be just viewed through Beach’s lenses. I can’t stand hearing people not want to blame the Blackhawks organization as a whole for this entire coverup and the organization’s mistreatment of select players. FYI—If you know someone is accused of something really bad and someone in charge is supposed to be “handling it,” yet you still see the accused going about like business as usual….BIG red flag. Have a spine folks! Take a stand!

Exactly. The other options mentioned earlier in the thread would've ruined any hope he had of being able to get this resolved and continuing his career.

I'm not blaming the guy. I feel terrible for him. I'm referring to his interview. He's racked with guilt over that 16 year old. He feels responsible. He's sorry he didnt do more to stop the guy before he could rape again. I understand that he was preyed upon. He was manipulated and taken advantage of and felt scared and embarrassed and guilty and ashamed and he just wanted it all to go away. I understand that The Blackhawks management were a bunch of cowards and failed this kid.

In the same way that Ristolainen is not worth his cap hit or what his future cap hit might be.

No, I'm not discounting his ability to move the puck up ice. He historically has been really poor in the transition game. His play so far has shown me that it is accurate. I focus on more than just one play. I look at the overall picture.

The Flyers have shown that maybe they can compete for a playoff spot. I'm not sure what you're seeing that leads you to believe that they can contend to this point.

- MJL

Honestly, can you say you have the overall picture after only 3 games?

Anyone see who caused the turnover in the flyers end before G scored his goal?

Yes he has the initials RR

I don't know what his future cap hit will be, a lot will depend on how he plays this season. As far as his current cap hit, if he plays well in our top 4 and enables Sanheim to be more offensive in the process, he will more than earn his money.

I think he can and will play better overall. To this point I think he’s been OK. There are some that wanted to write the guy off after one game. The same guys are the ones that didn’t like the trade from the start…guys can’t wait to say ‘I told you so” even though RR hasn’t really played that bad… guys are tripping over them selves to point out every little mistake they think he makes just to thump their chest and say ‘I was right’…when the truth is he hasn’t had the chance to get settled in with a new city, new team, new coaches, new system….but sure let’s bury this guy already.

Well last night RR was better and certainly more noticeable than Darnell Nurse. He’s making 9.25 million. So let’s work it from there.

I don’t really understand this take, he’s just automatically going to get more money? He doesn’t look good and his point totals are not going to be anywhere near what he had in Buffalo. I don’t see the Flyers or any other team offering him more than he’s making now .

As many are fond of saying, he is only 26 and 7 different teams were bidding for his services.

It’ll be interesting to see what it is when it all shakes down. But the market value has been up and down. So really hard to narrow down. Would guess 6-6.5 though.

I'm open to have my mind changed and am going to continue to watch and see what happens. It's really a shame because the guy is a physical monster. Unfortunately, hockey sense wise, he's lacking.

I don't think that Ristolainen is capable of enabling any player in any manner. I think it's can Sanheim improve and re-find his two way game while saddled with Ristolainen.

Teams will see the same thing. The size and physical tools as well as being a RH shot. He can put up some points if he's given some PP time.

I can see people thinking he’s in Buffalo, if he gets out of there he can be effective. But if he plays the way he’s been playing, some serious bonehead plays, I just can’t see people getting in a bidding war for this guy.

Agree. A lot of people said they were also gonna wait to see him play. While we have, season is still young. New team, new coach, injury. I think he will be fine on the second line. Unlike Buffalo. He doesn’t have to play 25 mins a night.
