So let me get this straight. You give up a 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick and a roster player for him and you need to wait to see how he'll fit? In what world does that make sense? You give up that on a player that you are sure about, that will be a difference maker. Not a player where there are doubts and you have to see what his real value is. Did they get a money back guarantee where if not satisfied within 30 days they can return him for a full refund?

You may like that they gambled with those assets but I don't. Gambling with those assets is incompetence. I'm not fine with the risk as that is a move that has far more potential to damage the team than to help. If you have doubts about signing him long term then you simply don't make the deal.
