I fell asleep after the first period. Looks I saw all that I needed to. Great to see MJ getting back in a groove with a strong performance.
The games have not been the train wreck that last year's games were, even when they were winning early in the season. Let's hope the Flyers keep up the great work in the coming week and this season. Going to the TML game next Wednesday night. |

Decent low-scoring hard-fought win. Jones stepped up and played really well. The Flyers were super haphazard in their own end and chasing the game a bit particularly in the 2nd frame. Seeler has really played well for a call-up plug player. Vancouver is struggling right now, especially their star player Pettersson. The Flyers will need to bring more for a win in the mountains... |

My MO for these late games....turn game on, watch attentively through period 1. Start fresh in Period 2, eventually fall asleep on the couch. Wake up a few times through P2 & P3 to check status and then eventually wake up after the game and go to bed. |

the edmonton game i stayed up the whole time, but i did the exact same thing for last night's game. i fell asleep during the second and woke up a few times throughout the rest of the game. checked the final score when i woke up around 2am to go upstairs and saw it was the same score i went to sleep on. it's like i didn't miss anything. |

i was worried about jones coming in, but he's looked more than fine in his two starts so far. it's still early, but it seems like there were a ton of overreactions to that signing at the moment. not all that surprising though. |

I recorded the game. This morning at work watched until the 2-1 goal, then fast forwarded to the last 3 minutes.

Big road win for the Flyers! First I loved Martin Jones last night, we was awesome. He was consistently at the top of his crease challenging shots, and was completely, and I mean text book, square to the shooters. It was very impressive.
Also I thought Risto had another very strong game, especially on the PK. One thing I noticed last night was as he was going into the corner to battle for the puck, the Vancouver forwards saw him coming and literally jumped out of the way. That is exactly what I want Risto's impact to be, it just wasn't there with the Flyers last season. Also his did a good job settling the puck and getting it up ice.
Finally, as a team the Flyers were much better in o-zone starts, 53.5% and as a result much better puck possession numbers across the board. This is what we need to see more of, the Flyers dictating play. They got in some penalty trouble in the 2nd again, but this time no crazy puck bounces ended up in their net. |

How great was that Flyers PP goal in the first? That was one of the sweetest plays I have seen in quite a while! |

I stayed up for the Edmonton game, as well. But 2 nights in a row isn't possible when I wake up at 5-5:30 every day. |

it honestly was harder to fall asleep in my opinion for that game. every time mcdavid was on the ice i almost had a panic attack. |

Jones looked tight and steady and comfortable
4th line looks improved with NAK off it (and i like the guy)
when Hayes comes back maybe we push Thompson out of the lineup and we'll have a 4th line I really like
EDIT: I like Thompson too but i know we can do better |

Only 6 games, but the Flyers PP is 27%, 7 points higher than league average, and their PK is an impressive 84%, 4 points above league average. Both are a far cry from last year! |

I love what MacEwen adds to that line. I loved the hit he gave Cici last game, even though it was a penalty. I am sure Cici was not the same the rest of that game. And I loved the fight last night against Schenn, again it was something this team lacked big time last season. |

I believe we should stop using last year as where the bar is set. The Flyers are much improved in a number of areas and that is a good thing. However improving on last year is not a tough task. It was a dismal season. Flyers rank 14th, pretty much middle of the pack in the league on the PK and the PP is top 6.

Being at least an 82% PK team is essential to winning games, especially in the playoffs, so they are 14th now, but I suspect they will be top 10 this year which is where they need to be. |

84-85% for a full season would be very strong. Only 6 games in. So far so good. |

I will say Jones was a big part of this last night, they say your goalie has to be your bet penalty killer. |
