I think you should watch the game ... numbers don't tell the story. Seeler was and is a disaster out there, yes he tries hard, but he is not good and was exposed numerous times last night. He was also out there in the PK, which I really don't understand, and paired with various defense partners, most likely to hide him. Risto was fine last night, got called for a BS interference penalty in the 2nd but otherwise won most of his puck battles and once again covered well in the slot area.

The bottom line is the Flames are really good, and the Flyers didn't have their legs, thus the combination should have been a lot worse than it was, thanks in large part to Hart.

It's really interesting. You watched the game and I didn't. Yet you don't understand why Seeler was out on the PK. Yet I understand why. I garnered more information from not watching the game then you did watching the game.
Ristolainen is not fine. He is mediocre at best. Out of the Flyer regular top 6 defenseman, Ristolainen is the worst player followed very closely by Sanheim. The pairing as a whole is a disaster. They were not good last night as well as the the line they played with, the 2nd line.

The Flyers, although they have a decent record and have some good wins, they haven't been a really good team all season. That continued last night. Coupled with not scoring and the result was 4-0.

So far in albeit a small sample size, this Flyers team is not looking like a contender.

Risto was fine last night, and if you watched the game you would know that.
- jd250

I know for a fact that he wasn't fine and neither was his defense partner or his most frequent line mates.

Maybe you have overrated Sanhero, like you have others.

Imagine having over 10 million locked up on the 2nd pair and getting limited results.

Wow, really amazing you know so much without watching the game. You do know the dangers of drawing conclusions solely on metrics, right?

The results are usually there even though they shouldn't be. That sounds to me a lot like last season when they were winning games they should not have. Good thing they have practice time this season so they can correct these issues as we have been told that lack of practice was a major reason for the tires coming off the bus in late Feb and March.

A contender? I think it's too early to say, but I would like to see the team with every one playing, including Ellis and Hayes. I told you and everyone the Flyers would be threading water at the start of this season given their situation at center, and Ellis being out is making it all the harder. So far the Flyers are fine. We all said we hoped they would come back 2-1 from this road trip and that is what they did! I don't think we can overreact after one game, let's see how they do this week. Regarding RR, you will never give him a fair shake, and that's a shame. Luckily Fletcher and his staff watch the games!

Not sure that is a good thing based on his past experience.

Anyone watching these games can see the flyers are getting outplayed. The main reason they have the record they do is an unsustainable shooting % from Cam Joel and Clode. Their 5 on 5 play leaves a lot to be desired. They play a dumb and chase and lose the majority of said dumb and chase battles.

Brassard is not a long term fill in as second line center and it shows against strong defensive teams.
Laughton, Lindblom, and JVR need to do more offensively.
AV may need to change those players up. Their 5v5 play isn’t producing much.

Lappy should be staring to feel some heat.
It’s unacceptable to have that team going winless with no offense at this point in the season.

I like Laughton but the fact is he is not a good center and that line just doesn't do much. Add a healthy Hayes and Allison and the bottom 6 looks a whole lot better. I love Oscar, but when are we going to admit he is what he is, if he was Patrick we would be killing him.

Hopefully Lappy can get them going….but ya, this team needs to get going….I’m more worried about a losing environment for this team. It’s not like Lappy can’t be a good coach, but results and growth for your top prospects matter.

The conclusion I drew from the facts to understand why Seeler was on the PK are not based on metrics.

You're absolutely wrong about not giving Ristolainen a fair shake. I'm a Flyers fan through and through. I have always supported the team. I'm not going to pretend like you are that he's a good player. So far he has been exactly what he was described as a player. He's the same mediocre player here that he was in Buffalo. I'm praying that he improves because with his play along with Sanhiem, the 2nd pair is a disaster.

Laughton is a solid checking center who can chip in offensively but he's not a playmaker. That line just hasn't finished. Not sure who we is but Lindblom is what he is. He is still the same hard forechecking, strong in puck battles with 20 goal skill that he was before his illness. Comparing Lindblom to Patrick is hysterical. Patrick was not engaged and played passively on the perimeter. You say you watch the games? Proof positive and explains why you think Ristolainen is great.

He is a below average 3rd line center. Hence why they prefer him on the wing if in the top 9. He has like 7 points his last 43 games. Yeah he is really chipping in.

"Alain Vigneault's Philadelphia Flyers did not have their skating legs going on Saturday".....

When do the Flyers ever have skating legs. As a skating team they flat out suck. They are not elusive enough to enter the OZ with the puck and not fast enough to play dump and chase....

Can’t wait to hear about 3 games on 4 nights and a long trip to the west coast as excuses
- corduroy

That's the problem with the Flyers there is always an excuse - hot goalie, 3 in 4 (fatigue), Covid (like they were the only team).....

The Flyers looked tired last night. I think the issue is that they aren't really a great skating team and when they are step slower than normal due to fatigue it really shows.

Well if York or Zamula are not better than Seeler we are really in trouble -- literally we have no prospects and an aging (not gracefully) team

dude, fall in line. Three in four, long flight, no practice = getting shutout by the flames with little to no effort on the Flyers part

sit down and shut up -- do not ever question those who know more than you
