LOL. We have data for Lindblom going back to before he had his illness which you are apparently overlooking. Lindblom scored 17 goals in the 81 games during the 18/19 season which indeed showed that he has some finishing ability.
Scoring chances are important data to look at because they are a good indicator in how well a line is playing.
There is only one thing that was proven here.
- MJL
Look, I love Oscar and am rooting for him in a big way. But honestly I don't care what he did in the 18/19 season, I only care about what he is doing now, and to me, right now, he looks like a 4th line player. |

There you go again, putting words in my mouth. The only thing I posted all summer about the RR acquisition is I didn't care what he did in Buffalo playing for the worst team in the league, and all that mattered is how he played for the Flyers this year. I also posted that I liked the trade because RR added an element this team desperately needed and I stand by that statement. I also was not concerned about giving up the picks or a marginal NHL defenseman. This "checks all the boxes" comment you keep saying, I really don't know where it comes from. - jd250
Laughable. All Summer long you were posting that he is exactly the player the Flyers needed. You stated umpteen times that he was a defenseman who checked all the boxes. Now you're claiming you didn't watch him play. This is just the beginning of you trying to spin your way out it because you aren't very confident in your analysis of Risltolainen's play being great. Let me guess, you didn't say that either. |

Laughton's ES scoring totals have been very solid over the years. Scoring at a high clip as a 3rd line player.
Last year Laughton scored 16 points in 5 on 5 play. For comparison, Hayes score scored 20 and Konecny scored 21.
in 19/20, Laughton score 25 points in 5 on 5 play. For comparison, Hayes scored 25, Giroux 26 and Konecny 33. - MJL
points are points no matter where they come from.
Laughton hasn't done squat his last 43 games points wise. How many of his 16 were at wing compared to center?

you wonder how often he doesn't watch games, and just goes by the fancy stats lol
There is a lot he doesn't understand about team needs that stats don't tell the picture

The numbers say that you're wrong. Your eye test must be malfunctioning. Lindblom has been very good on the forecheck and in puck battles creating scoring opportunities. Right now, I would change the lines and move Lindblom up in the lineup. |

It's not an opinion.
Braun was in the penalty box. Unavailable obviously.
Provorov and Ristolainen took the first shift of that kill on the Monahan goal. They changed. That left for the next shift on the PK, Sanheim, Seeler and Yandle. Yandle doesn't play on the PK and hasn't in years. That's why Sanheim and Seeler were out there. All of this information can be found in the game summary and the shift charts. - MJL
OK, well if I were AV I would have kept RR and Provey out there, putting Seeler on the PK was a horrible decision IMO. |
|
|
|
Honestly I didn't notice that in his game. Risto IMO is the best puck battler on the team, and the best slot coverage defenseman they have. I see forwards changing what they are going to do because they see they are up against Risto, and there are not many defenseman that can do that (one other was Chara in his prime). Is Risto perfect, of course not? But for a guy that has such poor metrics, you would think his +/- would be on pace to be as bad as say Sanheim's was last year at -22, but alas with no points yet, Risto is only a -1 in 7 games. Sure, when Risto is out there he gives up more shots than other defenseman, but this is COMPLETELY due to the amount of D-zone starts he has taken, some games its upwards of 70%! Even if you are 50/50 on faceoffs, the other team is getting the puck in the Flyers' zone and getting shots. That is not on Risto. This is why you need to watch the games! - jd250
That is some funny as schitt. Good lord.

LOL, so you think that the coach should keep a defense pairing out for the entire 2 minute penalty? I don't know what happened here. You didn't understand it yet you claimed you watched the game. Perhaps an indication of an inability to see what is actually going on out there. With Braun in the box, the coaching staff had no choice. |

pretty sure you win actually scoring more than the other team. Doesn't matter how many chances each team gets.

It would be kind of tough but I would like to see a better mix of high end scoring talent through the lineup. The 2nd line despite their strong goal scoring is really not playing well overall. They're getting badly out chanced and out played. Lindblom can help with puck possession so I would probably think about moving Konecny down, he can help with finish lower in the lineup and move Lindblom up.
The other thing I definitely do when Ellis is ready to play is play Braun with Sanheim and move Ristolainen down to the 3rd pair with Yandle. |

I just posted that I thought RR was exactly what the Flyers needed ... specifically his physical play! Again, show me one post where I said he checked all the boxes? For your information, that was Check Fletcher who said that in his presser immediately after the trade, but I can understand why you get Fletcher and I confused
I didn't watch RR play when he was in Buffalo, I stated that already also. Obviously when the Flyers traded for him I went back and watched highlights to understand what kind of player he was, and after listening to Fletcher explain why he wanted RR I concluded that he gave us what I thought we were lacking, again, that physical defenseman in the corners and the slot area. So far this season, that is exactly what I am seeing from RR. |

TK could use a few shifts on a lower line. I would like to see Atkinson with G and Coots. Put JVR with Farabee. TK and Lindblom on the third line.

You stated in the Summer that he checked all the boxes multiple times. In fact we had a conversation about when I called you on it. It was a ridiculous comment.
You claim you understand what kind of player he is but your comments show no understanding of what kind of player he actually is. I wish we could get Radko Gudas back for half the cap hit. Just as physical and a much better player. Ristolainen has not shown in any manner that he is a difference maker. |

Makes sense in theory though can Braun handle the extra minutes all year without wearing down? Will he be effective all year

I don't change anything until Hayes comes back, because that will impact the 2-4 lines. I would have a hard time telling TK he deserves a demotion at this point in the season. I would feel differently if Lindblom was showing he would bury some chances but he just hasn't. I understand you like Braun, but if you are going to move him up to the top 4, the player to move down is Sanheim. |

TK does not finish enough. They need him to be more consistent. He will score 4 goals in three games and then score three in the next 15. I would not mind rotating Atkinson, TK and JVR on that line.

If you think Gudas is better than Risto, then I just don't think there is any more we can discuss on this topic. We are just oceans a part which is fine, at the end of the year we will see who was ultimately right. |
