So Miller and Kravtsov, 2 highly touted young players on ELC's, for a top 9 player whose salary works in our cap landscape? And this forward bumps who down to the 4th line? Miller and Krav should theoretically get a pretty damn big return. - picklerick
This would have to be for player on an ELC or bridge contract with upside. I meant top 6 not sure why I wrote 9.
I wouldn't shift him to center. Thats a stretch for sure - nyrangers2
For sure. I'm not thrilled about his lack of "eliteness" either. But, I don't see any choice for them but to wait him out for a while. He hasn't been making egregious errors every shift either.
People forget that there are large discrepancies in draft caliber from year to year. Being #1OA doesn't ensure any level of success. And it certainly doesn't ensure a rapid ascent.

It would just be nice for our #2 and #1 overall picks to actually make an impact like they seem to do for every other damn team except us

Kravs isnt here and might not comeback, even with the news he is being loaned. It would be stupid for the Rangers NOT to loan him, he can play and will be showcased for other teams to scout him.
Now as for Miller, I said to LA for a promising Center, not an established one, Strome will be resigned here for 6.5, I dont think the Rangers will want Panarin upset for trading his Center away as they did in trading his buddy Buch. Rangers need a good young Center, Miller is a perfect piece going back.
The Rangers are going to have to move out some cap space soon in order to first give Strome a new extension, ahead of his price possibly getting higher like Fox's would have by the game; once Strome's & his line's production increases to its norm, especially that of Panarin's.
Look for Georgiev to finally get his next start likely in Edmonton since his win about two weeks in that late 3-2 comeback out of nowhere over Ottawa, with it also being a possible showcase start for teams in need of his services.
Drury is going to have to prove he can be very creative like Gorton in order to fill any roster holes such as to acquire some faceoff help through trades, to both improve his team's playoff reaching hopes, and re-sign a center they can't afford to lose in Strome.
It could be much worse right now if not for Shesty's and Fox's play of key, for the top two who have saved them from having a poor start instead. We need our others expected to get their games going to their norms still.
But as far as wins & losses vs. the above & below .500 teams with them playing thus far 7 of 10 games on the road, (and 9 of 12 in total by the end of this road trip), imagine if you were an Isles fan instead in expecting even more this season in a Cup win. That with the Isles at 3-2-2 in having played all 7 games on the road of their first 13 total road games to begin the season.
Of the Isles 8 points to date, 6 pts. came against 3 teams a combined current 5-21-3 (with a total -54 Goal Differential); the best in injury hit Vegas 4-5-0 (with a -9 Goal Diff.), while Chicago's & Arizona's combined record is 1-16-3 (with a total -45 Goal Diff.). Yet the Isles won those 3 games by only a combined 9-1 score in like the Rangers, scoring more than 3 goals just once this season in their 4-1 win over Chicago. The Rangers scored more than 3 goals in only their 4-0 win Friday over Columbus.
The Isles are 0-0-2 vs. Columbus & Nashville in losing both games 3-2 in OT & the S.O. respectively, while the Rangers defeated both in regulation by a combined 7-1 score.
Then against their best faced, the Isles lost their opening two games by a total 11-4 margin to Carolina & Florida, (combined 16-0-1 with a total +39 Goal Dif.) The Rangers courtesy of Shesty defeated Toronto 2-1 in OT, but lost to their other best faced in the Caps & Flames by a 10-2 total, (each 5-1 losses). - RangerSaver

its very true but we have done pretty pretty good with Fox, Miller and Igor. - Greschnergy#4
The Reality is though this team will only reach its full potential if Laf and Kakko become star players. If they don't with the way the cap is set up now, they will be a team struggling to make the playoffs every year.
Sidney Crosby's return this past weekend will be a short one for now. He has tested positive for Covid-19.
Edit: Both Sidney Crosby and Brian Dumoulin missed Penguins practice earlier today after both tested positive for COVID-19, and are now in Covid Protocol. Crosby experienced minor symptoms, & Dumoulin is currently asymptomatic.

or hire Lou Lamoriello away from the icelanders (with our luck he would die a week after the hire)
Kevin Weekes:
For all asking, my understanding is the @NHLFlames have Tkachuk ( who is a future potential captain) an upcoming 1 Rd pick, a former 1st Rd pick, and 2 prospects in the Eichel sweepstakes with the @BuffaloSabres . @espn @NHLNetwork #HockeyTwitter

I’m confused by that wording. They are offering tkachuk, a future first, a player who was a first rd pick, and 2 prospects?

I just don't get it. Calgary is playing better hockey than they have in years and are currently tied for 1st in their division.
Why blow it up for 1 guy, who is a huge question mark?

Because the potential upside is that you land a major elite center, a position they're pretty weak at. There's been plenty of rumors about Tkachuk possibly wanting out too. The risk is real, but if UFC fighters can get the artificial disk replacement and have their heads punched and kicked with no issues then I have to imagine that odds are Eichel will come out of it OK. I'm sure anyone that acquires him and pays the price for it has done massive amounts of research with numerous doctors on the procedure.
Probably one of the few, or less, chances a team will have to acquire a franchise, top 5-10 center in the league early in his prime years.
2. Rhetorical question time: Would anyone watching a Rangers game — be it a casual fan, student of the game or talent evaluator — be able to identify Alexis Lafreniere as a first-overall selection?
Lafreniere seems to be having less impact on the ice then he did during last year’s challenging rookie go-round. He is not driving play, he is not generating offense, he is not creating chances — though, yes, he does lead the team with three goals at five-on-five.

Alexis Lafreniere not shying away from Rangers coach’s criticism
On the other side of the puck, Lafreniere’s failure to clear the zone on what appeared a rather weak effort to begin with, directly led to the sequence on which the Canucks tied Tuesday’s game in the third period. This less than a week after he was chastised for turnovers.
I wonder, with Lafreniere’s ongoing issues and Filip Chytil’s generally blah work, would it make sense to move No. 13 into the middle, which is where many personnel people believe he’s belonged from the start?
Because if Lafreniere can capably make the shift to center, that would sure solve a whole lot of issues going forward for the Rangers. - nyrangers2
Kakko too. I feel like neither him or Laf ever have the puck on their sticks for any extended period of time. Chytil is def not a center, they have to stop pretending he is. Chytil should be a the one with Kreider and Zib imo, for more of a speedy/faster line. Goodrow should be the 3rd line center imo, with Blais and Kakko. Big grinding line. Watching Kakko every game, I think he is miscast as a super skilled player. He’s more of a grinder type..down low goals. Ala- Graves, Andreychuk. Those guys are still great players, but they made their name in the corners and along the boards, in front the net, etc. Kakkos hands are great in close. He can’t finish with his shot is the best way to say it. I don’t think they’re using him well at all. I’ve said this since his first year. How they use him is mindboggling. He hasn’t once gotten legit top unit PP time that I recall. Nothing against Strome, but that should be where Kakko is on PP1. Kakkos shifts are always blah. Nothing ever happens, it drives me crazy haha. I haven’t ever seen Kakko in a place where he looks confident. (Quinn and Gortons fault also) he always has that aww shucks look on his face
I’m not a proponent of changing lines all the time, and Gallant rarely changes them. But I’d try this:
