Depth
Probably the deepest we’ve been on defense in a long time - Nucker101
I dunno man, Canucks have NOBODY on RHD besides Myers, and he is an adventure at the best of times. |

A buddy for Pods. I don’t think Hughes and Ratbone will work on the same team. Our D is far too soft - CanuckDon
We've already filled the team halfling quota. Wasn't overly impressed with Rathbone in his games. I agree his game is too passive and soft. |

I agree. I’ve liked him with OEL.
Poolman and Hamonic as the other defensive RHD are solid if paired with a dman who can move the puck |

I’m fine with hafling wingers (Garlund is the heart of this team) but it doesn’t work on D. heavy forechecks destroy us |

Thanks Carol, if Hammy doesn’t want to be judged he’s going to have to be a bit more open. He’s not some Joe Schmoe.
Didn’t mind Garland with Miller and Petey, would like to see Boeser and Hög with Horvat, dropping Pearson down to play with Dickie.
I also like Podkolzin in the Horvat spot on the PP in pre season, he should get a look on PP 2 instead of Pearson. |

Poolman's numbers are some of the worst in the league among Dmen who have played as much as him, like embarassingly bad. Hamonic if he can get back to how he was playing with Hughes before should be fine, but past him again, very little depth. Yes there is more blueline depth than years past, but it still isn't of good enough quality for a playoff contending team imo. |

As far as I'm concerned, if he's vaccinated and ready to play, who cares. I think it would hypocritical to critisize people for not getting vaccinated and then continue to harp on them for their reasons why once they've actually done it. |

In the event they should make post season play they'll be punished.

If only the team had someone to insulate him with. I've heard Chris Tanev is pretty good at that. |

Honestly didn’t like any of the pairings last night, but 3 new guys- or guys who don’t play much.

Hunt/Schenn Poolman

I’m just saying his secretive nature the past month is what’s lead to the speculation and criticism. So if he’s upset that people are asking questions or for clarification then he should be more honest about his reasons, or just shut up about it and play hockey.
I don’t really care, but there’s plenty of his quotes in the blog making it sound like he’s upset. |

Ah, understood. If you watch the presser, it comes across more as him just trying to be firm with them up front because he's clearly sensitive about his reasoning, whatever it is. Maybe you're right and the better strategy would have been to just say as little about it as possible. |

Yep that whole scorpion save sequence was born out of him failing to clear with an abundance of time ... I really don't know how he hits those shinpads so remarkably often! |

His analytical numbers are not good. According to the nerds, he has been out shot 185 to 112 at 5v5 this year.
I actually havent noticed the above and think he's been a decent defender so far. |

His partner is a

I'd like to see the context behind those numbers. Is he playing against top lines? Does he see more ice time when defending leads and less when trailing? Are the shots coming from the perimeter and is Demko screened/unscreened?
Because visually he seems just fine to me as well. He's been playing banged up the last couple of games though and it has shown.
Just looking at corsi doesn't tell the whole story |

All of them have been ok, even Myers and even Hughes.
Nobody has been outstanding, but all of them being ok is a HUGE improvement over last year already. |
