He already did.
He doesn't have to for either 30 days or 10 games. - Reubenkincade

I wonder if Ottawa would be tempted to lay Buffalo’s price to reunite the bros then. Hometown Blues will probably be very interested as well - Nucker101
That'd be a good outcome for NHL Fans.
Ottawa would be fun with both 'chucks and would surely have the necessary pieces to get him from Buffalo.
Buffalo would be smart at this point to rebuild by flipping Eichel for picks n prospects (and Tkatchuk) and then flipping Tkatchuk for more picks n prospects.

If you added Tkachuk and Middlestat to the Sabres right now they'd score a ton more goals. No need to flip him, they'd have enough capital coming back. |

In this fantasy scenario, you'd flip him if you were Buff (and Cgy to begin with) because you're not confident he'll re-sign in either small market.
Ottawa banks on the fact that he'll resign there to play with Brady.

Yeah, I dunno.
I hear what you're saying, but I do think that people (even those in the public eye) can keep details about their medical/mental health private if they choose.
Surely not everything needs to be made public because you play a game professionally.
In saying that, i'm in favour of de-stigmatising mental health and physical health issues and speaking out about them, but i respect if you want to keep it in house.

We all should have a choice of when and what we share, especially if it's personal, regardless of whether or not the public eye is involved. It's selfish and simple minded of people to suggest otherwise. |

That is changing rapidly. Teams now must disclose injuries in certain sports because of the amount of betting and fantasy leagues.
The public and media will find out about personal family matters like E Kane or Richard Sherman.
Time away for personal matters now affects winning / losing, cap issues . strategies for rosters in betting and roster line ups for fantasy sports .
It is all coming back to money that people are making it their business to know.

When you sign on for fame and fortune your personal life takes a hit.
Right now you have a half dozen people on here saying his personal life is his and his family as they discuss his personal life with 5 other strangers. It doesn't always work out like that.
If you don't give the people the facts they will try to find out , no matter all the pleading to leave it alone. |

Honestly, I'm in favor of this, NHL teams being forced to disclose what injuries players have and to do it accurately and without obfuscation like (upper body injury/lower body injury) and whatever other code words and jargon used especially in the playoffs might actually make players safer in the long run. The NFL for years has been forced to disclose injuries and list the players status for betting purposes. Makes it harder for teams to force players to play hurt because the sports books would scream bloody murder otherwise. |

I have a slightly different view. It may be idealistic but it involves respect for the people involved, and it isn't based on pay rate or status.

Sorry bud.
As a fan, We're entitled to know any underlying issues a player might have.
Past trauma? We should know about it, it might affect their career and i might lose a bet!
Relationship status? Important stuff there. Should be public too, might affect the game tonight.
Players should be forced start posting their diets, alcohol and drug consumption and amount of sleep too.

Cap Crunch Coming?
Adding Eichel's $10 million salary brings the Golden Knights to $78.74 million committed towards next season's $81.5 million salary cap with just 11 players under contract, per CapFriendly.
Forwards Reilly Smith and Mattias Janmark, along with defenceman Brayden McNabb are all slated for unrestricted free agency next summer, while seven players on their current NHL roster are slated for restricted free agency.
Eichel will become the 11th member of the Golden Knights carrying a cap hit of $5 million or more, his $10 million salary is the team's highest, ahead of Mark Stone ($9.5M AAV), Alex Pietrangelo ($8.8M AAV) and Max Pacioretty ($7 million AAV). |

No more than half the league.
For the record I said they didn't have cap issues 2 years ago and last year. This is the third year of a flat cap and many teams are feeling the pressure now, but there are always ways to work around it like the 98 million Bolts . - VANTEL

Acquiring a C who can play in the top 6 is absolutely what VGK needs, but next year might already be too late. They're on the downhill slide now towards mediocrity. |
