Acquiring a C who can play in the top 6 is absolutely what VGK needs, but next year might already be too late. They're on the downhill slide now towards mediocrity.

Agree ... I just looked at their cap friendly. At first I admired that they had the gonads to make changes even when they were already really strong and pursue top guys (Pietrangelo, Lehner, etc.) when they became available, but they've really put themselves in a tough spot now.

Looking back, being a perpetual cup contender would be gladly taken by most franchises, but I guess they feel like they have to win it all.

Ya, I disagree is all lots of young talent. Trade patches and recoup. They got the 1C, 1D and 1G that you need, maybe the best winger in the game in stone. Theodore might be a 1Db, which never hurts.

I wouldn't dispute the top end pieces are there, but they've painted themselves into a corner money-wise. Unless they have an entire bottom 6 and bottom D pairing of all guys making 900k, they're going to have to trade someone important to the current core. They're working themselves towards Maple Leaf territory.

Middlestat has played plenty, looks like a bust.

He looked better with the new coach last year and hasn’t played yet this year. Wouldn’t write him off as a future 2C yet

Fair point.
They must have some other moves in mind to free up some cap space.

He scored 9 goals and 17 points in his final 22 games last season. He's played 1 game this year.

He's a 22 year old 8th overall pick for an organization that's been a dumpster fire. I think he'll be fine.

he was on a 44 point pace per 82 games last year.

On a awful BUF team, i would hardly call that a bust.

Yup they have . Do you give him a QO of 7.5 next year to play third line?

We can let him miss training camp like Petey and then decide how much he is worth.

Have to ask Jkuzzi. Dumba Hughes pairing could be lethal.

Anyone see Roussel's comments yesterday about Toews? Good stuff, always liked Roussel

Not a ton, just declared a side really.

Given that context, Toews’ comments were not well received by many people, including Roussel.

“Jonathan Toews is a captain. He’s a winner. He’s all those things… but he may be a little human,” Roussel said (translated from French). “It was really disappointing to see how he still protected these people. They could be your friends. Maybe. But they reacted badly, and sometimes when friends react badly, they just have to face the music.”

“It was not okay to say what he said. It was really disappointing. In the beginning, I defended Toews, but that’s no longer the case.”

Roussel, who now plays for the Arizona Coyotes, also took aim at the NHLPA for not doing enough to protect Beach.

“I was surprised to see that level of negligence in that department… It’s not acceptable. You look to your union and tell them that there’s a problem; that’s when you need each other. That’s when you need them to go to bat for you. In the end, it was the complete opposite.”

“Don Fehr does not work hard for all NHL players, only the ‘top guns’ of the league… In this case, he responded badly to the situation, and now he will probably lose his job.”

Trade cripples Vegas and both players on LTIR. Not sponge worthy.

The truthbomb. I agree with everything he said. I'd imagine there will be some follow up chirping next time they play eachother.

We can hope JB once again sets his price & gets it. 👍

Brock has already gone through that before.
