Regret this. Top 10 players just entering the prime of their careers never hit the open market - TPC
Buffalo was NEVER going to trade him to Rangers --- no regrets ! |

For those that think the Rangers messed this up, I have it on a fairly reliable source that the Rangers wanted Eichel to get the fusion surgery also. So its likely that it wasnt the Sabres that turned it down but Eichel saying no. |

Was it your neighbor from down the block who has a friend who lives in Whoville that knows a guy from the mail room, who is friends with Eichels sisters friend who babysat Jack when he was 5 years old? |

Would still be bad optics if he was traded downstate. I don't think he was ever coming to NYC. |

I think they'd have moved him to NYC if they got a big offer from the Rangers that they absolutely couldn't say no to, but anything short of paying a premium and they were definitely going to look to move him west and only have to play him twice a year |

Likely would have had to trade Strome and/or potentially Georgie. Though part of the reason the team passed, was probably they knew what Fox was going to resign for and just knew the cap gymnastics could never work without some serious drastic moves.

Simple answer is that he wouldn't fit without blowing it up again.

we couldnt blow it up if we wanted to. all of our big contracts are not tradable due to NMC |

And buyouts aren't really an option either. |

Just because I want to watch the world burn, I simulated some buyouts. No slam dunk candidates, but Trouba's was interesting. Saves half the cap hit in the remaining years, the years after the contract would normally end are only slightly above 1 million.
Not that I'm advocating doing it, just looked at it and was impressed the team did a fairly good job of having an out has things with Trouba went south

Laf on the 4th line in practice. Gallant won’t baby rookies. Top 2 picks need to at least be noticeable during games in a good way |

So glad that the Eichel sh!tshow has finally concluded. Vegas needs cap space if Eichel can heal up this season after surgery.
Does it make sense to deal Kravtsov and Gauthier ( or a pick ) to rent Reilly Smith and get center prospect Zach Dean in return? To me, this would be a good way to use our cap space surplus for this year and remove the Kravtsov distraction from our team.
WIN/WIN

I don't see why Vegas would trade last year's first rounder, let alone with Reilly Smith, for that return. Kravstov hasn't done a single thing yet at any level he's played at that would warrant a good return for him. |
