Absolutely. I’m sure King is responsible for things like breaking down film of the PK of upcoming opponents to look for weakness, but the coaches would discuss their plan and Green would have final say on everything. - 1970vintage
Green's got a fresh contract, all he needs to do is keep repeating his narrative.

Could Bruce Boudreau be an option if there was a change? |

Depends on what environment they want for their players. Boudreau is known as a players coach and I’ve read that he has a tendency to create a country club atmosphere. Maybe that will work for this group of players… |

Maybe Jimbo can make a trade for some veteran help. Trading picks should do it. I'm sure it will work |

Missed the game last night and just watched the hilights.
Wow that assist to Hughes on the Preds 2nd goal was outstanding.

They just need to get through this homestand, the fans in the stands are making it overwhelming for this group.

If it’s new coaching that ppl want what is it they are looking for in him?
For me it all starts with the roster that is currently built & would dictate the type of coach needed.
In goal we are fine.
The D is ok but missing a top 2 RHD that goes a long ways to being a contender. That’s a hunt that is never ending with drafting being the route to take. Don’t see another option unless a huge trade happens & that isn’t likely & would be very pricey if it did.
Up front down the middle is where I focus & imo isn’t getting it done. Bo is fine. EP is in a funk & needs the right compliments on his wings. His FO ability is horrible & he should put in major work on his strength to improve that. Miller is not the answer but ok for FO’s if needed. Dlcky given more time to fit in is solid 3C. Competition at the C position is organizationally weak overall.
Deep on the wing but miscast when building line dynamics. Hurts line chemistry & consistency & adds to breakout problems for the D. Messy & sloppy results that can be cleaned up. Familiarity comes over time for D 1st passes especially under aggressive forechecks but the blender effect adds to the difficulty.
My solutions…
Give EP wingers with speed & aggressive forechecking. Stick with them. Patience
Miller EP Garland
Bo needs a sniper & a speedy puck possession retriever. Depth scoring needs a strong 2nd line to share top 6 TOI. In game dictates how much.
Hog Bo Boeser
3rd line should be where we excel given our so-called better depth. A 200’ line that can score more than it gives up & PK mins.
Pearson Dlcky Pod
4th line needs top PKers speed & 8mins of high energy to set up the next line over the boards.
PP1
Boeser Bo Hog
Miller OEL
PP2
Garland EP Pod
Myers Hughes

Motte Dlcky

I like Myers on the PK. I'd also fire the Coach. |

ole jimbo just got rid of some of his wasted money contracts and now he's going to have to go back to FA and ask him to get rid of another bad contract that was just signed less than 6 months ago.

I still think the struggles of the team lies with it's 1C Pettersson, at this point.
But i'd be lying if I said I hadn't been thinking of replacement coaches too
What about Claude Julien? |

Yes thought on Myers & fine by me 👍
Fire Green if a suitable replacement.
Idk who. Suggestions? That said he’s on the hot seat no matter what & only a big turnaround can delay him gone. Real growth & consistency is overdue. |

Petey has been slow to find his groove. Doesn’t help Boeser is off his game. 13m top line getting poor value.
What do you see in Julien? |

An experienced coach, with a winning record, has a cup, who isn't named Babcock.

i would think julien's defence and tough game approach.
that said, i don't think he'd be a fit with the way the team is constituted. seems too old school for this bunch. seems like it would set up conflict but that sometimes works to motivate players but is too risky imo.
the name babcock has been thrown out there and i'd want to interview him. he's got baggage which (looking at the redemption angle) could be have sparked growth and at least some humility. in practical terms, you can get him cheaper as he'll want to get back in the league. he's not getting a $50m maple leaf deal anymore. |

I’m down for all of that but it has to be the answer without fail. Must avoid a turnstile of coaches.
In Babcock at least I like him playing duos up front. After that idk if a fan of him & why I’m skeptical too.
Making Shaw interim coach be my easy choice & interview potential suitors. It has to be done right & gotten right for the longterm. |

Ride it out with Shaw as interm. If he gets results no need to look further. If not it buys time to shop around. |

Jason King is also on thin ice.
EP & Boeser can save his ass if they get up to speed or he’s also a goner.
Still never liked Baumer but tough to clean house into a season. |

there is no reality in where you can draw a line between Scotty Bowman and Jason King as coaches. Bowman was a winner before entering the NHL and when he did become the coach of the St. Louis Blues he took them to the Stanley Cup finals three straight years in his first three years. - bloatedmosquito

In Bylsma I wonder if he gets the offence rolling like I think it can. He had success in Pitt albeit he had 2 world class C’s. Epic fail in Buffalo but they were a train wreck back then.
Babcock wouldn’t be a poor choice & if he gets it on the tracks it’d be sweet & in the Leafs face lol.
Still though any new coach has to squeeze out the talent JB assembled. There is enough there to make the PO’s. We lack an identity imo & it’s been too long finding one. |
