I don’t have anything against Carpenter, but if he’s dressed he needs to be on the 4th line and off the PP. Load up the first two lines with the most available talent, then fill out the 3rd and 4th line with the rest of the roster. Get rid of Gus ASAP, and one more thing, beat the freaking Preds! - Angotti
Right on Louie.

Doesn't really matter, playoff spot is already gone.
Maybe Danny will have a new idea - hire a Head Coach first and give him the job of firing the interim GM and hiring a permanent GM he likes. |

That's some out of the box thinking. Sounds like something the Bears would do. |

Glad JC is gone.....was over his skis the moment he was hired and can't say ownership didn't give him a chance to prove something....anything. Good coaches find a way to maximize talent and get the most out of players....JC did neither of those.
Will this wake up a veteran team that has some talent? No idea....
Haven't checked in for awhile after the off ice turmoil but is it fair to say Seth Jones is still to blame for this 1-9-2 start or are people noticing just how bad Murphy and McCabe have been....or that Toews is likely a 3rd center moving forward....or that essentially nobody is showing up for a consistent 60 minutes each night?

I'm 6'1, 220 and could squash you...what's your point? YOU show up a troll a hated rival, and I travel to STL for work...so I get it, but you don't expect crap back?
Take the high road and enjoy your success. |

Blues have been lucky to get some timely scoring at times. Defense has lacked for a portion of the short season so far. It’s going well so far though. Blues have lucked out a bit. Look forward to the next game against the Hawks. I missed you guys as a Blues fan last season Blues being in a different division and all - BluesDroogie

Or the Toronto Maple Leafs.
How about Danny hires Mike Kitchen as Head Coach who then hires Q as GM?
Bettman hears that, has a heart attack and croaks. Everybody happy, especially PowerEnforcer. |

From Scott Powers in the Athletic a bit ago. Love the Willy Wonka reference...
Colliton was handed a golden ticket but had all the success of Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt and Mike Teavee. The immediate and general consensus among Blackhawks fans after his firing Saturday seemed to be, “Good riddance.” Perfectly understandable. Stan Bowman’s grand experiment failed, is over, and eventually a new general manager will hire a new head coach and a new era of Blackhawks hockey can truly begin. In the meantime, interim GM Kyle Davidson had to do something after a 1-9-2 start, including Friday night’s bottoming-out in Winnipeg. So Derek King will hold down the fort while the Blackhawks figure out the path forward. Hell, this season’s already lost, so there’s really not much urgency, anyway.

And here's an excerpt from the column that has Dots written all over it...
This is by no means meant to absolve Colliton of blame for where the Blackhawks find themselves right now. He had all of Quenneville’s stubbornness with none of the results to back it up. He had his pets who could do no wrong, and he had his doghouse from which there was no escape. And no matter how many times we saw three Blackhawks behind their own goal while an opposing forward sat in the crease unchecked, no matter how many times we saw a defenseman follow his partner into one corner, no matter how many odd-man rushes the Blackhawks gave up, a defiant Colliton stuck to his hybrid man defense that never seemed to click with the personnel he had.

Now we dont have to speculate about this team any longer and how long JC will be around....
1. You need to hire a hockey mind, who has the past experience to lean on during tough times, hard decisions....but also flexibility to adapt his outlook for the better of the team.
2. GM....somebody with a fresh set of eyes outside this organization who can not only determine what we have up with the big club, but what is also down below.....sell anyone and everyone if necessary. This guy needs to be aggressive, and fluid in where the game is TODAY and where the game is GOING tomorrow...ie....how to build rosters.
3. Coach....somebody who picks when/where to blow up privately and in the media, but is also a great communicator and holds the best to the 22nd rostered player accountable the same way......
If I am Danny Wirtz, next homestand I have a long 1 on 1 talk with Kane and Toews separately and then as a pair.....if it's time to part ways you work with their agent and find the best spot within reason per their NMC and maximize return....in regards to Toews....i think that ship has sailed and return isn't going to be promising....kane....based on Eichel heading to Las Vegas, you may be able to get somebody to give up Kings ransom especially if you retain some dollars to make it work cap wise.
said if a few weeks back...but we are at rock bottom....and if the whispers are true about Montadar as Carcillo has hinted.....some more off ice turbulence heading this way. |

I am not sure if they iced an all star team they would get casual fans back...not after the off ice disaster....time to sell and start replenishing your farm system where and when you can.
The wake of crap the next GM and coach have to take over thanks to Bowman and JC is something that can't be ignore.d
I don't know if this IS a top spot to be an executive or coach and I hope the Wirtz ego can check itself when they assume they can get anyone they want. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they do....this reminds me way too much of the Bears..... |

Maybe. Likely have to retain some salary, but after this and next season the Hawks will be in a good place Cap wise.
Even if they can somehow turn the season around, I'd rather see them actual sellers at the deadline and we'll see if they are able to stockpile some picks toward an actual rebuild.
I wasn't sure Bowman was ever going to be the right guy for the rebuild and current events have rendered that a moot point regardless.
Agree with you. It's time for some fresh eyes in the GM chair. |

Not necessarily a long rebuild.
A bug key is when Dach and Mitchrll are better. The low point is now or maybe this season.
The team needs a simple enough system and players held accountable. A skew if Rickfird players really could mean a lot. Some Rickfird players woukd or could be role players. Shaw like? Just one example. I want Slavin, Barret, Altybarmaken, the Notre Dame kid to play. R Johnson is a depth guy.
DeHahn, Gus, Murohy gone.
Here is an idea: Kubalik + a prospect or something else FOR a center roughly the age and skill level of Kubalik.
We cannot count on smelling like a rose should you be praying to retain the #1 '22 at second overall.
Jake Wise could join up too
I do not believe that Rockford played Cilliton's system

They have about $45M tied up in Toews, Kane, Jones, Debrincat and Fleury. An interim GM and now interim Coach with assistant jobs to fill. And a big problem to sell tickets. And lawsuits to deal with. Quite a mess |

There is talent here. Not Cup-competitive talent by any means, but play-off competitive.
If (IF) Jones is the #1 defenseman that Bowman thought he is (and I think so too), if McCabe can return to being the defenseman he was before his injury, if Murphy and deHaan (if they’re still here) can be the quality 3/4 defensemen they have been in the pass, if Mitchell develops, if Kalynuk turns his promise into potential into actual….That could be a pretty good defensive unit.
Soderholm, Commesso, Lankinen - is there a NHL-quality #1 and #2 in there?
Dach, Reichel - top 2 centers of the future? Not yet, but maybe. Kurashev as 3C? Top-six wings are a problem - after Kane and AdB, a bunch of maybes. But perhaps a new GM can fix that.
I don’t think there’s anyone I mentioned that you wouldn’t move for the right price (probably excepting AdB), but they still could be productive here.
Colliton certainly slowed things down. I don’t think that Bowman was on the wrong track with his moves last summer, Hopefully, a new regime can develop this into a team. |
