I think after the boydchuk trade it’s pretty clear that making the cap floor is a non issue.

Well when you have as much as they will need to spend the next couple years it could be.

Easiest thing to do in NHL. We just got boychuck for free

Yes easy when you have 5-10mill, not 20-30m without interfering with development.

Probably best to worry about this season 1st then cross that bridge sometime around the 40 game mark.

Some good stuff!

- Buff36

--butcher at 19+ evtoi is not good

--Bjork is not a shooter, but maybe he should be

--Buffalo averages 3.66 goals per game with Anderson in the crease. Only Washington’s Ilya Samsonov (4.6), Edmonton’s Mikko Koskinen (4.55) and Florida’s Sergei Bobrovsky (4.21) get better goal support.

--The Sabres are completely different at home and on the road
They’re 4-1-1 [at home] and have outscored opponents 20-13. They’re averaging a 34-30 shot advantage. They’re 1-4-1 [on the road] and have been outscored 23-15. They’re getting outshot 34-26.

let me rephrase.

What advantage does a trade for Kane provide for a rebuilding team, when the trade will almost assuredly center around a top prospect and a 1st.

NMC, makes 6.9 in celery, UFA after next season. Does Chicago want to get rid of him? Do the Sabres want to pay a premium for a guy they have a good chance of losing before the team is any good? poop doesn't line up to me.

I can't believe the insanity I'm reading in here this morning.

Trading away 3 pieces for 1 is partly why we're in rebuild number, I don't even know what number rebuild we're in.

If Terry wants Kane, if I'm Adams, I'd tell him Chicago wanted too much and move on.

Guys, Kane isn't coming here. He does not like Buffalo and just bought a huuuuuge place in Chicago. He's retiring there, bet on it.

They are still 2-3 years away if they continue to do that the way they are, and that's if everything goes according to plan and all these prospects pan out.

Fans are giving up and moving on from the Sabres. Its going to be very hard to get people back, this ain't football.

They are averaging 6K fans per game and that was before they started losing.

Something is going to have to give.

It’s hard to find something to talk about between these long stretches ,between games, during a losing streak. A good portion of our important players are injured and in reality we have no idea in what we are as a team bcz of it. It’s just talk.

They haven't made the playoffs in 10 years. If they make the playoffs everyone will go back. Winning cures all.

They'd also average more if Canadians could go without spending more money on some frankin covid test for a 5 hour venture cross the border.

Not necessarily. This isn't the NFL where gate revenue has little effect on whether or not a team turns a profit.

And even if that is correct, you're talking about absorbing a ton of losses for a minimum of 3 years in hopes that your team might be near the top of the heap, which also takes some luck to get there. That's tough for any businessman to stomach.

Like that last 10 years.

If he wouldn't of pushed for faster re-builds he would have a playoff team by now.

Continue to push for faster re-builds you'll continue to lose money.

Playoff teams are not guaranteed to turn a profit. In fact, many of them don't. There's a certain level of loss that owners are willing to stomach as not all profit and loss is cash related. During this drought, attendance was at least somewhat consistent, and the building was mostly full up until around 2018-2020. However, when you're only averaging 6,000 fans in the seats, it becomes a serious problem that needs to be dealt with sooner. You can't just say "just wait a few years". Teams have costs they need to deal with now.
