If I recall the details and picks correctly, trading for Andrew Shaw was a much better choice than drafting Debrincat and Girard...things people who blame Timmins and not MB for the draft record seem to forget
- Takemedrunkimhome

Yeah well, you can still blame Timmins for the picks he was allowed to make. Everytime they trade the picks people act like he would've picked the right guy....

"Oh yeah, if we didn't trade the pick, fans would've been happy with what we had planned"

STFU, you would've most likely picked a USHL bust...

Or all the good players he drafts (the few) get traded for magic beans...pretty much every damn time

Bergevin won most of his trades.

Hated that one the minute it happened. At least we got back a similar return when Chicago made the mistake of bringing him back.

But there's no telling Timmins would have drafted these guys and not Cameron Morrison and Chad Krys.

I'm having a hard time giving him the benefit of the doubt.

im on this side as well. there's no evidence that this group would have properly drafted and developed with those picks. it's been nearly a decade that they've been running things together. there is not a single impact player on this roster that was drafted and developed by this group. not one.

I'm not defending Timmins, I'm guess I'm arguing that Timmins and MB are a package that needs to go together

I saw two people having the very same opinion at the very same time. So its very not a debate.

I definitely wouldn't mind a full management change if it brings competent people with a fresh new perspective, but I do consider that a change in terms of drafting and development is a priority, so if that would mean replacing Timmins but keeping MB then so be it.

Yeah well, you can probably find people that don't share this opinion but the majority of people here would tend to agree I think.

I've seen it argued enough that it doesn't hurt to point out MB's role in the Habs draft ineptitude

Bergevin does have a role, no doubt about it.

And deciding to keep him as head scout is part of it.

Fire them both, start anew.

he bears 100% of the blame for the development failure. 100%. it's been his decision to leave the entire apparatus in place for 9 years.

I want Martin Madden Jr as part of the retool/rebuild. Looking at the Ducks and the fact they have 16 players on their active roster that they actually drafted. Montreal will never be the destination of choice for UFA, only way to build a contender in Montreal IMO is via the draft.

After six games with the NHL club, Hendrix Lapierre is headed back to junior. The Washington Capitals have assigned the young prospect to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL where he will play the rest of the season.

also with Bob Murray possibly out in Anaheim he'd likely be in line for the promotion there

Some teams manage to do it without but you still need some good pieces through the draft...

They could have called me, I would have told them to grab him.

But Guhle was a solid choice. I'm not complaining too much just yet.
