Give me Smith over Ganger. Need someone out there that won't get pushed around.
I like Fabbri, but injuries add up. And just not being available more often than not is rough. Any interest in targeting Hertl? - DRW1991
Smith realistically has no business in the NHL while Gagner is an extremely competent bottom 6 player with tons of versatility. |

Going to cost too many assets, and giving him a 7-8yr contract at $7.5 to $8.5M is not in the Yserplan. Need a C that is 25yo or less. - HenryHockey
Nah he’s gonna take a discount to form the Czech 5.

Goalie that was a high pick because he got to play behind the Mackinnon Frk and Drouin show. |

I didn’t think there’d be a ton of excitement there. Once upon a time on Comeau, but probably not right now |

Yeah, he’s the interesting one. For Grimaldi I wondered if he would improve the 4th line at all (any of them really). But most likely they’re safely on their way to AHL or termination type gigs |

I think yes on Bishop. At some point the injuries take over. That position is brutal on hips/groin and knees. |

Projected forward lineup for Detroit tonight:
Bert - Larkin - Raymond
Suter - Fabbri - Zadina
Namestnikov - Rasmussen - Erne
Smith - Stephens - Gagne
DeKeyser -Seider
Leddy - Hronek
Staal - Lindstrom
Blashill is a moron for putting Suter back at the Wing. He plays best at center, which is where he scores his points. I get that he needs to work on his faceoffs... but he's got more experience playing center than anyone else on the team except Larkin. He's better up the middle than Fabbri and has a better two-way game. He did a pretty darn good job shadowing McDavid last game. |

That's good news. I got my lines from the Morning Puck. I hope yours are correct and mine is not.

Listen, drafting…My dad told me once: “You never know who you truly married until you see her in court.” Not sure how I can spin that fit the topic of drafting, but I’m gonna try…
DET drafted Vladdy, Lidstrom, Pav, et. al., way into the later rounds. They panned out. How many 1st rounders has anyone drafted that were 1st ballot HOF? I am by no stretch an expert, but I’d opine that you look 1st for what you need the most 3-5 yrs down the road. Right now, we’re 3-5 yrs from being SCPO bound. - mcmastermike1968
The wings are not 3-5 years away from the playoffs. Maybe the cup itself, but they lookin like theyll at least be in a fight for a playoff spot if not dangerous enout to win a couple playoff series this year. And we dont even have Vrana. Wings are Gucci

Detroit’s not loaded with superstar talent by any means. But there are many players who can carry the mail. I like what’s on the ice, all things considered. And believe me, Edmonton is scratching their heads wondering what hit the the other night. I said this at the beginning of the season; we’re not contending for the SCPO, but many teams are going to underestimate this team and take a “L”. - mcmastermike1968
This wings team is a good team thats on the cusp of being a great team. They domt even have Vrana. Theyll be in the playoffs. |

Lots of Gagner slander among the commentariat.
Here are some stats since start of last season.
Player A:
3 goals, 16 points in 906 minutes at even strength
8 goals, 25 points in 1048 minutes overall
Player B:
8 goals, 19 points 656 minutes at even strength
9 goals, 21 points in 852 minutes overall
Player A is Filip Zadina. Player B is Sam Gagner.
Gagner is a good player. He drives play well on both ends of the ice. He defends well. He plays both special teams units. He scores at a respectably efficient rate for a bottom six forward.
He's not a player that leaps out at you if you're just going by the eye test, and he has a weak shot. But it's hard to argue with the results. I think almost any team could use on their third or fourth line. - Sven22
Not a good comaprison. Zadina seems like he has just recently stopped turning over the puck everytime he has it. Next comes zone time. Then shots and goals and points. |
