This is another kid that would be a nice addition to the pool

I have to say, I haven't really watched any prospects in game so far this season. I'm going to let them sort themselves out first and just dive into a top 50 or so.
This is what I will look for though
A forward with speed and fast hands that isn't a short person. Example Kyle Connor
A D that plays a strong steady 2-way game that isn't physically overmatched constantly.
Example Adam Pelech
They need a right shot top 6 centre
Example Shane Wright
Unfortunately, Canucks don't have a 2nd round pick this season. Hopefully the next GM can get that back.

Can someone please still offersheet Petey so we can get 4 first round picks... - carsonagenic
Generally, not always, guys who miss the majority of camp tend to have down years...for whatever reason. This was not to be unexpected and it was called by myself and a few others before he re-signed.
Also, the chemistry since they acquired JT Miller has been off. In Boeser's first two years he had 29 and 26 goals, 16 of those were on the PP setting up in Ovechkin's office with the one-timers. His third year Miller came in and Boeser also got injured and everything seemingly changed. They won't post Boeser on that half wall to utilize his shot anymore???
Everything seems to be about making JT Miller happy, at least to me that's how it looks. |

I don’t think this is a really good team with bad coaching (like the Blues were), so to me changing the coach with the hopes of saving the season - i.e. making the playoffs - isn’t a solution, just a patch. But I’m open to any candidate, previous head coaching experience or not.
Win or lose in Anaheim, I don’t believe they will make a change. - 1970vintage
I think the team is better than they've played, but it's a playoff bubble team.
Unless thing flip around soon, you have to try something like changing the coach. The team got crushed last year, and that sticks around emotionally. If they just keep the same path even though things are going off the rails again, that's going to seep more into psyche and create a really negative culture that will be harder to get past. |

Changing the coach to someone who's a professional experienced coach with much better systems play will make a difference even to the least talented team you can think of.
However, changing out the GM, with the current owner, isn't as easy as it sounds. Rumblings within NHL circles are that no one with any experience will work for the Aquilini group as they are too hands-on with the hockey operations. |

I honestly believe in my 'heart of hearts' that the franchise will not/cannot be successful under the current ownership group. Yes when they first took over the franchise they had success, however, they don't operate like they used to. Now, they are definitely more hands on than they used to be when they first bought the organization. |

Willie D, Travis Green, Jim Benning, Trevor Linden…what do they all have in common?
All were hired under this ownership group with no previous experience in the exact role they had or have with the #Canucks at the NHL level.
Experience in the NHL matters.
He believes Canucks should go back to Gillis and Torts. |

The team is funking hard. Miller can't be asked by himself to drag the team into the fight every night.
Canucks for years have been missing players that what McNabb did last night. Unfortunately Benning is unable to draft players like that as well. Canucks not only have the softest team on the ice but I have seen absolutely nothing physical at all from any of their prospects. Even their biggest players are soft as marshmallows. |

The Canucks are soft AF. FA will probably throw the twins into management when he blows up the team, more inexperience and another decade of rebuilding.
Get an experienced coach like Bruce Boudreau or go with Shaw. If there's bad apples in the room, get rid of them regardless of who they are.

Very frustrating how soft this club is. Starts with leadership. |

I stopped watching after the first last night, just saw the highlights on the rest of the goals.
The last two goals, Miller on his knee's gives it away. Hughes on his knee's gives it away.
I joked a few years ago the team needed a new trainer staff. I think now maybe I wasn't joking |

I think that comes down to culture too. You don't need to be the Bruins of old to have a backbone. Vegas doesn't have huge bruisers (especially now that Reeves is gone) but they still play tough. |

I shut it off after watching Horvat stare at the ceiling while OEL skated past him to take care of McNabb for the hit on Pods. When OEL got 4 mins for getting punched in the face you knew the refs had this one handled. But, all in all if Green gets tossed after the ANA game maybe we should thank the refs? lol |

Clearly the Canucks aren't a physical team, nor do they stand up for each other (aside from OEL). That's the culture, that's how they were built.

Vegas aren't big bruisers but they are tough on the puck. They want it. Van players are not aggressive. They out hit Vegas last night but that's not aggression. Vegas players get the puck, keep the puck and fight for the puck.
Petey right now isn't big enough to hold off players in battles. Hoglander isn't big but he wants it and he's solid. Garland isn't big but he's an angry elf.
Hughes is nice, Boeser is nice, Horvat is nice. Not everybody on the team needs to hit 5 people a night but just want the puck more than the other team. |

He was almost crying at the post mortem, then you get TG's BS to go along with it. They're soft AF. |

I would say right now a lot of the Canucks players are finding out what it takes to win in the NHL. They had minor success in the bubble and teams took notice.
Benning said he thought the younger players needed to take a step forward and didn't, so he brought in help to do that.
Green is still a very inexperienced coach by any league's standards and it shows.
Obviously some blame has to fall onto the players needing to be better. |

Maybe we should have signed Reaves for a year? Set some examples... |
