Defence Ideas:
- Sign Josh Manson next year - 3 year deal
- Sign brayden Mcnabb next year - 3 year deal
Mcnabb - QH
OEL - ?
Josh Manson - Hamonic - canucksfan1944
McNabb when the Vegas D is healthy plays 3rd pairing with Coghlan or 2nd pairing with Theodore. I don't think that having him play 1st pairing or with a lesser partner would make the Canucks D better.
Also signing 2 will be 31 year olds IDK. It's what the team needs.
Canucks GM just has to draft better defenders.
Hughes, Woo, OJ are the only 3 defenders that Benning has drafted in the first 2 rounds of the draft in 8 drafts. That's nowhere near good enough. |

I think it's Miller. You could kind of see it bubbling to the surface last year between him and a couple of players. |

What trade? The Richardinson one? Yeah I thought it was decent value for an upgrade on sutter. If people are basing their value of Richardinson based on his points, or his production on this current roster, than I'm not really sure what to debate. The entire team blows.
I still think he's better than sutter or any bottom 6 center that we have. That bar is extremely low. - Codes1087
The entire team sucking doesn't mean that Benning still didn't got robbed for what he paid for the player.

Maybe. Miller wants to win. Most of the players are indifferent. Trade the players that are indifferent |

Draft picks get doled out like candy, how is that supposed to work with Benning?

Whoever the fuk it is, the team has to have the balls to get rid of him/them. |

In my experiences there's one guy in command of the room, bench, and team, from the moment they walk in to the moment they leave. The Coach. If there are truly leadership issues then, to me, they begin and end there. |

Keep the guys that drive play and get rid of the rest: miller, galand, Pod, Hog, Hughes. Maybe Bo |

If it hasn't come to a head yet it will after another embarrassing loss. After tonight they don't play until Wednesday in VAN.

I'm absolutely convinced that any player who comes here, under this management and coaching staff, will come to have his production die. Other than miller, what player obtained via trade or free agency has flourished?
Richardinson isn't going to put up points, he never has. His job is and always has been to be defensive. I don't think he's been horrible.
He is also the only bottom 6 player to not be an overall minus at 5v5.
What are you and others truly expecting of him? |

Early game tonight. No plans on watching tonight either.
When Green is fired or the team has a 5 game winning streak is when I will watch another game. |

I think that's a huge part of it for sure
I'm going to get labeled a hater for this, but in a nutshell
Cap management. Poor asset management. Trading away draft picks. Bad trades and bad ufas. Bad coaching staff. Bad systems. Lack of toughness. Lack of direction from the GM. Short term goals vs long term. Inexperienced assistant coaches. A head coach who is absolutely in over his head. Most likely a locker room problem (how could they not at this point). Bad draft choices.
This is pretty much what comes to mind immediately. |

Lets start with the coach... It is still early enough to turn this around with the right guy behind the bench. As far as whom? I'm going with Player #7 in Slapshot Bruce Boudreau. - carsonagenic
They only need to go 37-23-7 or there about the rest of the way. That’s still doable at this point, new coach or not. |

And add fan apathy to all of this and it's pretty clear FA has a big mess on his hands.

Big time
The only way I think to salvage this is clean house. Management, coaching staff (keep shaw) all gone. Benning and weisbrod gone. Put the interim tag on cull or give a 1 or 2 year contract to an experienced coach like Boudreau. Get a GM who can rebuild properly. Sell players for prospects and picks who shouldn't be considered core and start over.
Look at LA. Toffoli gone for picks and prospects. Muzzin gone for 1st round pick. Martinez gone for picks.
They now have the best current prospect pool and are starting to really compete. It can happen, we just have no idea what it looks like cause we have been dealt mediocrity for too long. |

I've wanted Benning to acquire picks and prospects since day 1. I think the only way to build a successful franchise is to build through the drafts and prospects. A few years of true heartache and rebuilding will lead to many many years of success and being competitive. This half ass retool has set this franchise back 10 years and it's no longer sad, it's comical. |

I pretty much thought the same thing until I looked. I found that it's the defensemen that it happens too.
Garland is same pace as he was last season.
Tyler Toffoli was awesome.
Pearson came in and was great his first season and slowed down to his career avg ever since.
Leivo had 2 decent bottom 6 seasons but has never been the same since his knee injury.
I think the longer guys are coached by Green and company, they slow down.
In Richardinson's case, if you aren't helping on the scoresheet and the PK is by far the league worst. Then paying a 3rd round pick for a 4th liner easily replaced winger. Richard's face off percentage this season is less than 40%. 2.65M for two more years after. |
